Mayor 'Kind Of Agreed' With White Supremacist Accused Of Killing 3 At Jewish Centers

Marionville, Missouri Mayor Dan Clevenger said he "kind of agreed" with some of the beliefs of Frazier Glenn Cross, the 73-year-old accused of killing three people outside of a Jewish community center and retirement complex near Kansas City on Sunday.

In an interview with KSPR, Clevenger said Cross -- who also goes by the name Frazier Glenn Miller -- was "[v]ery fair and honest and never had a bit of problems out of him."

"He was always nice and friendly and respectful of elder people, you know, he respected his elders greatly. As long as they were the same color as him," Clevenger said.

"Kind of agreed with him on some things but, I don't like to express that too much," Clevenger told KSPR, which noted the mayor had expressed his views before:
That hasn't always been the case. Nearly a decade ago, Clevenger wrote a letter to the editor of the Aurora Advertiser.

"I am a friend of Frazier Miller helping to spread his warnings," wrote Clevenger. "The Jew-run medical industry has succeeded in destroying the United State's workforce."

The letter continued.

"Made a few Jews rich by killin' us off."

He also spoke of the "Jew-run government backed banking industry turned the U.S into the world's largest debtor nation."

Clevenger tried to distance himself from Cross, saying he doesn't believe what Cross would talk about.

"He had a lot of hate built up inside of him," Clevenger told CNN. "And every time he'd come down here, he'd go on about different races -- mainly Jews. He claims they're all bad, but I don't believe that."

Clevenger also told CNN he doesn't "think Marionville citizens really gave a lot of attention to that stuff."

After the shooting, Clevenger told the AP how Cross often distributed racist pamphlets in his town.

Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region Weighs in on Arrest of Toronto Housekeeper After 94-Year-Old Was Defrauded of Life Savings

Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region (HomeCareAssistance-Toronto.com), the leading provider of non-medical in-home senior care in the Greater Toronto Area, is releasing an expert opinion on the recent arrest of a Toronto housekeeper and her husband after they defrauded a 94-year-old victim of her life savings.

Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) April 17, 2014

Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region (HomeCareAssistance-Toronto.com), the leading provider of non-medical in-home senior care in the Greater Toronto Area, is releasing an expert opinion on the recent arrest of a Toronto housekeeper and her husband after they defrauded a 94-year-old victim of her life savings.

In early April, a 32-year-old woman and her 38-year-old husband, both from Toronto, were arrested in connection with an elder abuse and fraud investigation after a 94-year-old woman lost $25,000 and most of her jewellery and furniture when her housekeeper's family moved into her home. Hired after the victim read about her services on a flyer, the housekeeper quickly became involved in the victim’s daily life and gained access to her bank accounts and other personal documents, including the title on her house. (Source: Mangione, K., “Housekeeper and husband arrested after 94-year-old defrauded of life savings,” CTV News Toronto web site, April 2, 2014; http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/housekeeper-and-husband-arrested-after-94-year-old-defrauded-of-life-savings-1.1757085.)

“With more and more baby boomers beginning to retire, Canada is becoming an older country,” says Lester Fix, executive vice president of Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region. “In 2011, 27% of the Canadian population was aged 55 and older. By 2031, that number will rise to 35% and eight million, or nearly 25% of the population, will be over 65 years of age.” (Source: “Victimization of older Canadians, 2009,” Statistics Canada web site; http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/85-002-x/2012001/article/11627-eng.htm, last accessed April 15, 2014.)

Fix explains that between 1998 and 2005, the overall rate of police-reported violence against seniors increased by 20%. On top of that, financial fraud is the fastest-growing form of elder abuse. Overall, elderly women are more likely than older men to be emotionally or financially abused by a caregiver, with one of the greatest concerns being that many seniors are too afraid to speak up about elder abuse. (Source: “Section 4: Family violence against seniors,” Statistics Canada web site; http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/85-002-x/2012001/article/11643/11643-4-eng.htm#a1, last accessed April 15, 2014.)

“In this most recent case, the victim wasn’t the one who called police; it was the prescription delivery person. Unfortunately, with a vulnerable aging population, cases involving elder abuse and fraud are only going to increase,” Fix adds. “When frailty, chronic illness, or forgetfulness make living alone too difficult, it’s imperative that families screen their caretakers or use a trusted home care company to look after their loved ones.”

As the leading provider of non-medical, in-home senior care in the Greater Toronto Area, Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region is proud to have a distinguished reputation for high-calibre caregivers. Thanks to its high standards and rigorous screening process, Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region only hires one out of every 25 caregiver applicants.

“In addition to having at least two years of senior care experience, Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region also checks references, criminal backgrounds, driving records, and work authorization documentation. Finally, we administer our exclusive Caregiver Personality Screening, developed by our on-staff PhD psychologists, which verifies honesty, kindness and conscientiousness, all essential traits in our employees,” Fix concludes. “We also conduct regular assessments and quality assurance visits to ensure 100% client satisfaction.”

Serving Toronto, North York, York Region: Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Vaughan, Newmarket, Unionville, the Township of King, Aurora, Woodbridge, Keswick, and Stouffville, Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region provides older adults with high-quality, consistent care, helping them live happier, healthier lives in the comfort of their home. In an effort to fully address its mobile and homebound clients’ lifestyle needs, Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region provides both hourly home care and live-in home care. On top of that, Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region is so certain its customers will be 100% satisfied with its services that it doesn’t require a long-term contract. Boston Marathon Bomb Hoax a Reminder That Untreated Mental Illness Can Lead to Tragedy, Says Author Janice Holly Booth

From bombings to stabbings to mass murders, violence is sometimes a byproduct of untreated mental illness. New book, A Voice out of Nowhere: Inside the mind of a mass murderer, details what can happen when symptoms are ignored.

Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) April 17, 2014

What would possess a quiet, 16-year-old boy to launch an unprovoked knife attack on his classmates, wounding 21 of them, some critically? Why would 25-year-old Kevin Edson commit a bomb hoax at the heavily guarded Boston Marathon then stagger barefoot in the rain yelling Boston Strong? Both incidents happened within a week of each other and while no-one was killed during these events, they are reminders that people suffering with severe, untreated mental illness often can and do pose a significant threat to themselves and others, says author Janice Holly Booth whose new book “A Voice out of Nowhere: Inside the mind of a mass murderer” chronicles the descent of one young man into mental illness where voices and delusions led him to massacre his family.

Alex Hribal, the stabber, and Kevin Edson, the hoaxer, have both been arrested and sent for a psychiatric evaluation. “When you look at the available details of these incidents they really do point to some sort of mental issue,” says Booth. Edson has been dealing with mental illness for some time; Hribal has no history of it. “It may seem impossible but schizophrenia symptoms can manifest quickly and become severe in a very short period of time,” says Booth. The subject of her book, 22-year-old Bruce Blackman, had exhibited bizarre and inexplicable behavior a mere 46 days before he embarked on his killing spree. In “A Voice out of Nowhere,” Booth takes the reader inside the mind of Blackman before, during and after he succumbs to mental illness. The non-fiction novel is Amazon’s #1 best-seller in schizophrenia.

Looking for a motive is an exercise in futility, says Booth. “There is a misconception that if a person who commits a violent crime is mentally ill then the crime must have happened spontaneously. That’s not the case. People with severe mental illness are still capable of planning and executing sometimes very detailed and complex plans. Attacks do not have to be spontaneous in order to be psychotic in nature. The crimes don’t have to make any sense to us, and usually they don’t, but they make perfect sense to the mentally ill person committing them.”

Booth advocates for better mental health care and early intervention, which is the bump in trajectory that can prevent tragedies like Sandy Hook and the Aurora movie theatre shooting from happening in the first place. “We ignore the issue of effective mental health care at our peril,” says Booth. “These incidents are not going to stop until we make some monumental changes to the mental health care system.”

The conference will teach parents and caregivers about effective, individualized treatment programs for those with autism spectrum disorder.

Denver (PRWEB) April 18, 2014

Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) will host a free, comprehensive, one-day “CARD Colorado Autism Conference” on treating individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The event will help parents and caregivers of children with ASD learn about effective intervention solutions, parent training techniques, strategic methods to address challenging behaviors and techniques to acquire insurance funding for autism treatment. Speakers include CARD clinical supervisor, John Galle, CARD chief strategy officer Dennis Dixon, PhD, and CARD director of contracts Bryce Miler. The conference will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at The Summit Conference and Event Center in Aurora, Colo., located at 411 Sable Blvd. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided. Attendees must register by May 1, 2014, at conference.centerforautism.com.

Attendees will learn about effective, individualized treatment programs for individuals with ASD that maximize skill acquisition and minimize challenging behaviors, with a focus on providing useful strategies that can be implemented in real-life situations. The conference will also cover insurance funding for autism treatment and allow attendees to ask questions to the panel of experts.

“We are excited to bring valuable resources to the many families in Colorado that are in need of effective treatment solutions,” said Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh, PhD, BCBA-D. “This conference will provide parents and caregivers access to the information that will help individuals with autism reach their fullest potential.”

Colorado is one of the 33 states that now mandate coverage for behavioral therapies for the treatment of autism, and this conference will help parents understand how to access that coverage. The conference will provide valuable information about the Colorado mandate, the benefits that insurance companies are required to cover, and information about provider networks, pre-authorizations, and claim filing.

ABA is the only scientifically validated treatment for ASD, and research shows it is most effective when delivered early and at a high level of intensity. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in every 68 children in America is diagnosed with ASD, making it more prevalent than pediatric cancer, juvenile diabetes, and pediatrics AIDS combined.
