New offer gives guests with delayed flights up to 50%-off on hotel F&B

Oak Brook, IL (PRWEB) October 09, 2014

The Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center is introducing a new plan to help relieve some of the tension that comes along with air travel these days. Starting today, guests who experience a flight delay of any sort, inbound or outbound, will be offered a Delayed Response food and beverage discount.

“The challenges that come along with flying today impact most of us at some point,” said Stefan Mühle, General Manager at Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center, which is less than 30 minutes from both O’Hare and Midway International airports. “The next time a guest of ours is delayed, we will respond with a warm gesture and show them Oak Brook Hills cares.”

As such, Mr. Mühle and his staff are offering guests 10%-off on all hotel food and beverage items for one hour flight delays, 25%-off for two hour flight delays, and 50%-off for flight delays that exceed three hours. The process for redemption is simple; guests need only verify their delay with the front desk, and in turn they will receive a Delayed Response voucher – valid at any of the hotel’s F&B outlets during the duration of their wait (for outbound delays) or duration of their forthcoming stay (for inbound delays).

Rather than proceeding to the airport for the impending wait, or alternatively after arriving at the hotel weary following a delayed flight experience, guests are invited to “decompress” at either of the scenic suburban retreat’s two seasonally-inspired restaurants, café or lounge that overlooks the peaceful 150 acre estate and Audubon-certified Championship Golf Course. The Delayed Response discount offer applies to everything Executive Chef Sean Patrick Curry’s kitchen cooks for breakfast, lunch or dinner, from Strawberry Honey Pancakes served with vanilla crème, whipped butter, organic strawberries, and local honey (harvested from beehives on property as of 2015) to an Aurora Angus Burger served on a freshly baked pretzel roll with caramelized onions, cremini mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and sweet potato fries. Additionally, Delayed Response partakers can choose from a wide variety of hand-crafted cocktails, local designer beers or high end wines at the Lobby Lounge, from the Swinging Piglet (bacon-infused tin cup American whiskey, maple syrup, angostura bitters, and orange) to Opus One. Full food and beverage menus are available upon request by contacting jody(at)grimaldipr(dot)com.

Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center currently offers dining options catered to travelers of all kinds. From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, guests can savor the resort’s farm-to-table culture at The Grille, serving local meats and cheeses in appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burger, flatbreads and more. During the warmer months, The Grille Patio is open for guests to relish the scenic resort while enjoying innovative dishes made with only the freshest ingredients. The resort chic Windows restaurant has something for every appetite, at every time of day, while the Lobby Café offers a variety of invigorating beverages, including an array of espresso offerings, iced/frozen/blended coffee and tea specialties, and Starbucks. Guests looking to enjoy a cocktail can visit the Lobby Lounge for signature drinks made with fresh squeezed juices and garnishes, all while overlooking the lavish Willow Crest Golf Club. Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center also offers guests a delicious, chef-driven room service menu.

Naperville, IL (PRWEB) October 10, 2014

Bill Jacobs BMW of Naperville is excited to announce the arrival of the highly anticipated hybrid 2014 BMW i8 at their dealership located at 2495 Aurora Avenue in Naperville, IL.

After nearly 10 years of development, the 2014 BMW i8 has arrived with a cutting-edge, futuristic design. The i8’s vertical-opening doors accentuate its ultra-modern, high-tech build. This groundbreaking Ultimate Driving Machine is a gas-electric plug-in hybrid, powered by a turbocharged three-cylinder combination gasoline engine and 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery powered electric motor. The system pumps out an impressive 360 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, and continues to deliver the Ultimate BMW performance that enthusiasts expect.

The i8 is two-seat supercar like nothing else on the road today—especially in the hybrid vehicle segment. Apart from the sleek design and powerful engines that can accelerate this machine from 0-60 in an estimated 4.4 seconds, the most exciting element of the BMW i8 is its remarkable range. The i8 can achieve up to 112 mpg with a range of up to 372 miles—far above many of the electric plug-in hybrids available on the market today.

In electric mode, the BMW i8’s top speed is governed to a modest 75 mph. When opened up into sport mode, the gasoline engine can propel the vehicle to a top speed of 155 mph. The i8’s firm suspension and stiff chassis provide a proper platform to take full advantage of its extraordinary performance.

The interior of the i8 interior is artistically futuristic. Luxury radiates from every part of the i8, with stitched leather, premium materials and stylish paddle shifters. There is no denying that this vehicle is still 100% BMW.

The BMW i8 is the future of the automotive world. For more information, please contact Bill Jacobs BMW at (630) 357-1200 and stay tuned for the second BMW i8 arrival at http://www.billjacobsbmw.com.

5 things travellers wish they'd known before booking a Northern Lights holiday

With peak booking season for trips to see the Northern Lights in the Arctic Circle this winter approaching, leading ethical online travel agent, responsibletravel.com suggest 5 things travellers should consider to help ensure a more authentic, responsible and enjoyable winter break.

(PRWEB UK) 10 October 2014

The most commonly seen colour in the Northern Lights is green, fitting then that leading ethical online travel agent responsibletravel.com suggests that the best way to see the Aurora Borealis this winter is by taking the time to choose a responsible holiday, one which protects the Arctic environment and helps preserve local heritage. Responsibletravel.com believes these authentic experiences give visitors the opportunity to take home lasting memories of more than just the lights, as they offer a deeper connection to the people and places they will meet along the way.

Responsibletravel.com managing director, Justin Francis, says “Although the Northern Lights are an ancient phenomenon, the mass marketing of them is still relatively new.

“Seeing the Northern Lights has become one of those horribly-named ‘bucket list’ things to do, and sometimes trips are bought impulsively as a result.

“However, it is a holiday which will take tourists to some of the world’s most fragile ecosystems, and into contact with indigenous cultures which need preserving. As such a Northern Lights holiday deserves careful consideration and research, both for the benefit of the destination, and to give the tourist a more memorable holiday experience”.

Taken from their 2 minute guide to Northern Lights watching – http://www.responsibletravel.com/holidays/northern-lights-watching, responsibletravel.com offers 5 tips which travellers considering a once-in-a-lifetime trip to see the Northern Lights should consider before booking, to help them towards a more authentic, responsible and ultimately more memorable winter holiday.·     Don’t set expectations too high. Even on clear days there is no guarantee the lights will appear, so rather than planning everything around the lights travellers should plan a rewarding holiday in general, with plenty of daytime activities. Seeing the Northern Lights is then the icing on a very delicious cake.

·     Connect with the Sámi. The indigenous inhabitants of northern Norway, Finland, Sweden and Russia are becoming more and more dependent on tourism and can offer tourists fascinating insights into traditional life and culture in the Arctic Circle.

·     Consider snow shoeing, cross-country skiing and reindeer sleigh rides as an alternative to snowmobile safaris. Snowmobiles may be vital to everyday life, but snow-shoes, skis and sleighs are a much less polluting, peaceful way to appreciate the frozen wilderness.

·     Avoid mid-late December if you’re not after the man in red. Families flock north for the festive season, so travellers wanting more seclusion and less Santa should travel outside this time.

·     Book early and research options carefully. The winter of 2014/15 is set to be one of the best times for Northern Lights sightings for the coming decade. Research carefully to ensure a responsible trip, and as the best accommodations and activities book up quickly, plan early to not miss out.

Bloomberg Group Gives Another Million Dollars to Gun Control Initiative

Bloomberg Group Gives Another Million Dollars to Gun Control Initiative For the second time in as many months, Michael Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety has given $1 million to the campaign for Initiative 594 in Washington state.

On August 29, Breitbart News reported that Everytown gave its first million to the one-percenters' campaign for gun control.

Breitbart News also reported that I-594 would treat all gun sales like retail sales--requiring a background check for both, thus ending private sales. It would, therefore, require the creation of a database of handgun owners (i.e., registration).

As with the failed Manchin/Toomey Senate gun control bill, I-594 would require registration of handguns to be enforceable. Unless the government knows where every gun is, how can they know who is or is not selling one without a background check?

But according to PR Newswire, Everytown President John Feinblatt is not talking about gun registration. Rather, he is stressing the so-called "crime reducing" benefits of the background checks themselves.

After all, Elliot Rodger (Santa Barbara gunman), Ivan Lopez (Fort Hood gunman, 2014), Darion Marcus Aguilar (Maryland mall gunman), Aaron Alexis (DC Navy Yard gunman), James Holmes (Aurora theater gunman), and Nidal Hasan (Fort Hood gunman, 2009) all went through background checks to acquire their weapons.
