Marmota hits high grade gold at Aurora Tank

Marmota Ltd (ASX:MEU) has received high grade gold results from drilling at the Aurora Tank project in South Australia. Best result was 1 metre at 17.0 g/t gold within a 5 metre intersection from 43 metres at 9 g/t gold. The assay results are from a six hole diamond drilling program completed in November 2017 at the Goshawk deposit. All holes intersect mineralisation All holes intersected greater than 1 g/t gold which demonstrated geological continuity of mineralisation. Other results are 2 metres at 9 g/t from 31 metres, including 1 metre at 16.5 g/t; 9 metres at 2.4 g/t from 16 metres; and 1.3 metres at 4/1 g/t from 23.7 metres. Due to the soft and friable nature of weathered rock at Goshawk, some core was not able to be recovered during drilling. Open pit mining potential The nature of the rock points to the opportunity for low-cost open pit mining of the deposit. Marmota will use the assays to obtain geotechnical, petrological and further metallurgical data. This will assist in the evaluation of Goshawk as a mining proposition. Aurora Tank is 50 kilometres from WGP Resources Ltd (ASX:WPG) operating Challenger Gold Mine, which has produced more than 1 million ounces of gold. READ: WPG Resources teams up with Marmota Ltd for nearby gold project On 24 November 2017 Marmota and WPG outlined a strategic alliance to investigate the development of Aurora Tank and the treatment of gold ore through WPG’s Challenger plant. Next at Aurora Tank Marmota aims to estimate a gold resources within 50 metres of surface over the 500 metre-long mineralised zone, which is underway. Further drilling is required to determine if the high-grade, near-surface intersections also point to mineralisation at depth. Reported by Proactive Investors 4 hours ago.

Marijuana stocks went from being one of the hottest sectors, by registering very impressive daily gains, to one of the coldest, as a correction has gripped this entire sector. I am focusing on *Aurora Cannabis Inc *(OTCMKTS:ACBFF), (TSE:ACB) stock because if you had been following my previous publications on this stock, the correction that has gripped ACBFF stock should come as no surprise because it commenced right after my price objective of $10.00-$12.00 was met.

Passage of CA’s Marijuana Law Highlights Need for Companies to Review Pre-Employment Screening; Opines CriminalBackgroundRecords.com

$

With California joining the ranks of legal use marijuana state the number of states allowing for the lawful consumption of the drug grows, and as the effects of these new use laws on employment have yet to be fully determined any change in law should be of concern to employers. Adam Almeida, President and CEO of CriminalBackgroundRecords.com opines: “The passage of recreational use marijuana law in California highlights an immediate need for employers of all sizes to work closely with a well-qualified pre-employment background screening agency in order to remain fully compliant with all existing and potential laws governing background screening.”

Waltham, MA (PRWEB) January 17, 2018

On January 1, 2018 California joined a growing list of states allowing the legal sale and use of recreational marijuana and while the effect on employment is yet to be understood, significant impact on pre-employment background screening could be felt in the near future. Adam Almeida, President and CEO of CriminalBackgroundRecords.com opines: “Any significant change in law should immediately push employers to review all existing employment screening policies in order to comply with existing and potential law.”

In West Hollywood, California the legal sale of recreational use marijuana commenced on the first day of the year.

From Canyon-News.com (Jan 03, 18):

The city of West Hollywood has become one of the first cities in the state to permit Adult-Use Retail cannabis sales. The recreational use of marijuana became legal in the state of California on Monday, January 1, 2018. (1)

While West Hollywood, CA allows the sale of recreational use marijuana not every city in California has the same policies. Some allow cultivation but not sales; others offer sales but not cultivation: Each city allows different practices as to the management of the marijuana law.

Almeida states: “An obvious best practice in light of the new marijuana law in California is to work with a pre-employment background screening agency in order to remain compliant with current law and stay ahead of potential new law.”

A great many questions remain regarding marijuana use and the workplace and, specifically, drug testing.

From the Los Angeles Times (LAtimes.com; Jan. 04, 18):

The new law "specifically does not change the legal status between employers and employees when it comes to drug testing and employment," said Tamar Todd, legal affairs director for Drug Policy Alliance, a national drug law reform group that supported the 2016 passage of Proposition 64, which legalized the sale of recreational marijuana in California.

"You can still be drug tested, and you could still be fired by your employer," she said. (2)

Almeida states: “Laws will continue to evolve over time and will continue to change. The legalization of recreational marijuana will eventually have a significant impact on pre-employment background screening policies beyond drug testing.”

One result of legalization may be the attitudes toward past usage and revelation of such usage during the interview process.

From the Denver Post (denverpost.com; Dec. 18, 17) discussing past marijuana use with police officer applicants in Colorado, attitudes that could eventually evolve in other states such as California:

…other police departments in the state are changing their attitudes. Last year, the Aurora Civil Service Commission adopted a policy that requires applicants to its police and fire departments to be marijuana-free for one year instead of three.

The changes in policies reflect evolving attitudes toward marijuana use in society, and some police departments are changing their standards because they fear they might lose otherwise high-quality recruits who have experimented with the drug because it is legal for people who are 21 or older to use pot in Colorado. (3)

Almeida concludes: “Ultimately significant changes such as the recreational marijuana use law in California will challenge employers and indicates an urgent need that all businesses and organizations work with a well-qualified pre-employment background screening agency in order to remain fully compliant with law.”

CriminalBackgroundRecords.com is a third-party employment screening company that can provide compliant solutions for all screening requirements. From pre-employment to post-hire screening, as well as volunteer, caregiver and nanny checks, CriminalBackgroundRecords.com provides background screening services across a broad array of industries. From the smallest organization to the largest corporation, CriminalBackgroundRecords.com can fulfill every background screening requirement.

Operation Homefront Announces 2018 Military Child of the Year® Semifinalists

The Military Child of the Year Award reflects the positive impact that these special young people have made on their military families, their schools, and their communities.

SAN ANTONIO (PRWEB) January 17, 2018

Operation Homefront, serving America’s military families® since 2002, today announced the 95 semifinalists for the 2018 Military Child of the Year® (MCOY) Award. 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of this special event — the nation’s premier celebration of the achievements of our military children.

The Military Child of the Year® Award reflects the positive impact that these special young people have made on their military families, their schools, and their communities. The final seven award recipients will travel to Washington, D.C., to be recognized at the April 19 gala, during which senior leaders of each branch of service will present the awards. They also will each receive $10,000, a laptop computer, and other donated gifts.

Beyond the ceremony and gifts, the Military Child of the Year® Award is a lifelong source of pride for the recipients and has provided them with amazing opportunities to meet senior military leaders, elected officials, celebrities, and other remarkable military children.

Mark Newberry, the 2013 Air Force Military Child of the Year®, recently wrote, “One of the greatest honors of my life so far was representing the Air Force in 2013 as an Operation Homefront Military Child of the Year… If you would have told me as a high school senior that I would be chosen to represent military children at the Operation Homefront gala, meet the Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. Mark Welsh, and receive an Air Force ROTC scholarship that would afford me opportunities to study what I love, jump out of planes, and become a pilot, I wouldn’t have believed you. Being a military child has afforded me so many opportunities that not many children get to experience.”

Thirty-five finalists will be selected in February by a panel of judges chosen by Operation Homefront’s senior leadership.

Six Military Child of the Year® Award recipients will represent each branch of the armed forces — the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard — for their scholarship, volunteerism, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and other criteria while facing the challenges of military family life. The seventh award is the Military Child of the Year® Award for Innovation presented by global technology and consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. This award goes to a military child who has designed a bold and creative solution to address a local, regional or global challenge.

The Military Child of the Year® Award for Innovation recipient will work directly with a Booz Allen Hamilton team to develop a plan to help scale the recipient’s project — drawing on technology and strategic thinking as a part of the corporation’s competitive Summer Games.

2nd Annual Clinical Research as a Care Option (CRAACO) Event Comes to Cambridge, MA in April 2018

The program tackles one of the greatest paradigm shifts in clinical research and clinical care by joining them together to give patients the best possible care options. CRAACO is designed to help bring clinical research closer to patients and patients closer to clinical trials.

BOSTON (PRWEB) January 19, 2018

The Conference Forum will present its second annual Clinical Research as a Care Option (CRAACO) event in Cambridge, MA on April 11, 2018. The program tackles one of the greatest paradigm shifts in clinical research and clinical care by joining them together to give patients the best possible care options. CRAACO is designed to help bring clinical research closer to patients and patients closer to clinical trials.

Co-chair, Katherine Vandebelt, Chief Ecosystem Officer, Reify Health, says, “Arguably, one of the greatest paradigm shifts in clinical research is to make it a care option within the healthcare ecosystem to allow patients to choose the best option.”

Valerie Bowling, Executive Director, the Conference Forum, adds, “We first presented this topic with Eli Lilly, Wilmington Health and PMG Research four years ago at our Disruptive Innovations (DPharm) event. We have been building on that experience ever since with a dedicated group of advisors, and we are thrilled to present the second annual program this April.”

“Higher rates of clinical trial participation inside a health system produce better patient outcomes, lower cost of care and happier patients,” continues Ms. Bowling. “Health systems and patients get access to the latest research, while pharma gets access to more patients in need of clinical research options. This movement is closing the gap between transactional clinical research and integrated clinical care.”

Led by co-chairs Jeff James, CEO, Wilmington Health, and Katherine Vandebelt, Chief Ecosystem Officer, Reify Health, CRAACO opens with a frank discussion about why clinical research is not typically a care option, the barriers, and how to build a path for possibility. Additional sessions include a joint discussion between the healthcare and clinical research ecosystems on how to come together to give patients the best possible care options; a panel on working with medical practices to offer patients clinical trials and establishing physician champions; and a case study from AmericanWell on how telehealth can address challenges of clinical care remotely.

Further discussions address the perspectives of patients and patient advocacy on how we can make patients aware of opportunities for education and engagement; the regulatory and ethical considerations of blurring the lines between clinical research and clinical care; and how we can recruit and train more investigators to make physicians more well versed in clinical research.
