Former car dealership comptroller pleads guilty to $4 million theft
The former comptroller for the Towne Auto Group admitted stealing more than $4.1 million dollars from the car dealership. Billie Becker of East Aurora pleaded guilty Tuesday to first degree grand larceny and third degree criminal tax fraud before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case. The 55-year-old, who remains free on bail, faces mandatory state prison with a maximum sentence of up to 25 years. She’ll be sentenced on June 13. Aurora Theatre Company announces 2017-18 season
The Berkeley company has announced that its 26th season will begin in September with two Bay Area premieres. First is Rebecca Gilman’s “Luna Gale,” about a social worker who takes an infant out of one unsafe situation into another she eventually realizes might be just as bad. In January, the company revisits a script it first produced in 1997, George Bernard Shaw’s “Widowers’ Houses.” Jonathan Spector’s “Eureka Day” gets its world premiere at the Aurora in April, after having been developed in the company’s Originate + Generate new-works program. Debuting in 2016 as the new version of the Aurora’s Global Age Project, Originate + Generate is one of the only new-works incubators at a major theater in the Bay Area to have an explicit focus on local writers. Concluding the season is the Bay Area premiere of Sarah Burgess’ “Dry Powder,” which like “Widowers’ Houses” earlier in the season lambastes the beneficiaries of capitalism.

Caterpillar Inc. said Friday it is closing its Aurora, Illinois plant, where the company makes large-wheel loaders and compactors, costing 800 people their jobs.
