Blast Fitness, 16895 W. Blue Mound Road, will close Feb. 28 and is telling members the entire building has been sold to Aurora Health Care, who will tear it down in favor of a new facility.
An email message sent to an Aurora spokesperson had not received a response as of Friday morning. A message left with Brookfield Economic Development Director Dan Ertl also has not been returned.
A “Q&A” sheet prepared for Blast Fitness members says all the tenants in the building — including Salon West and Rhoda/Smith and Associates — are having their leases terminated so the building can be demolished. It also says Blast Fitness memberships are being transferred to the West Allis location.
The building has been home to a fitness facility since the early 1980s, with Vic Tanny and Bally's occupying the ground floor prior to Blast purchasing the space in April of 2012. Reported by Patch 6 hours ago.
