Two managing directors and two principals join the firm with proven experience in client growth, strategy and operations.

New Managing Director, Art Chivvis (New York) was a partner with McKinsey & Company serving U.S. and European clients for 16 years in a variety of areas including product/market strategy and organization, acquisition-based growth strategies and post-merger integration. Art co-led the firm’s chemical industry practice and led the U.S. pharmaceutical practice. He then joined J.P. Morgan’s mergers and acquisitions department as a Managing Director with global responsibility for corporate strategy and financial advisory work on mergers, acquisitions, and other forms of strategic alliance for chemical and pharmaceutical companies. Art comes to Blue Ridge Partners from The Chivvis Group where as Managing Director he specialized in serving clients in the industrial and healthcare industries. Art received BA and Ph.D. degrees in organic chemistry from The Johns Hopkins University, and held a postdoctoral appointment at Rockefeller University before beginning his business career at McKinsey. He is the author of both business and scientific publications.
Mark Hardy (Salt Lake City) also joins Blue Ridge Partners as a New Managing Director. Mark joins the firm after over 20 years of investing experience with Aurora Capital Group focused on their Private Equity funds and portfolio companies. As a Partner at Aurora Capital, Mark led teams in acquiring over 85 businesses, formulating and implementing strategic and annual plans and developing and executing exit strategies. While with Aurora he developed the Aurora Portfolio Oversight and Operating Program and served on several portfolio company boards. During his career Mark developed deep experience in a number of industries including manufacturing, industrial distribution and business services. Mark currently serves as a Judge for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Program for the Los Angeles Area. Mark began his career at Bain & Company, where he developed and implemented revenue growth strategies and conducted market due diligence for strategic and private equity buyers. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Economics and a BA in Political Science from the University of Utah.
Jim Ettamarna, (Boston) comes to Blue Ridge Partners as a Principal after an entire career dedicated to helping companies grow. Prior to Blue Ridge Partners, he was the VP of Strategy for Staples, Inc. and also held senior growth-leadership positions at Avery Dennison. Jim gained principal investing and Board of Director experience as an investment professional on Morgenthaler Partners’ Private Equity Team. With McKinsey & Company, Jim served clients on a wide range of growth, strategy, and operational issues. Jim began his career on the industrial side of General Electric, where he graduated from the Financial Management Program, was a Six Sigma Black Belt, and launched and led an e-commerce startup for GE Plastics. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, and an undergraduate degree in Operations Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Marten Leijon, (Washington, DC) also joins Blue Ridge Partners as a Principal after years of leadership roles resulting in revenue growth for businesses through product and channel innovation, strategic marketing, data analytics and process improvement. Prior to joining Blue Ridge Partners, Marten was the CEO of MIX, a global leader in financial services business information for underserved customer segments in emerging markets. He led several global practices within the Corporate Executive Board (CEB), serving senior executives in Operations and R&D of industrial firms, as well as executives responsible for insurance products, retirement services and client-service delivery. While with McKinsey & Company, Marten served clients in the utilities, healthcare, biotech, and insurance industries.
