The Aurora City Council has refused to overturn a ban on pit bulls that's been in place for nine years, the Aurora Sentinel reports. The city council rejected a proposal that would have allowed Aurora residents to own three prohibited breeds of dogs but require them to carry $100,000 in liability insurance. The banned breeds are American pit bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers and Staffordshire bull terriers.
