Reportbuyer.com just published a new market research report: The Homeland Security Market 2013-2023 : Aviation, Mass Transit, Maritime, Infrastructure, Cyber, CBRN, Border, CTI & Public Safety.

London (PRWEB) December 04, 2013

Report Details

Visiongain's landmark 553 page report The Homeland Security Market 2013-2023: Aviation, Mass Transit, Maritime, Infrastructure, Cyber, CBRN, Border, CTI & Public Safety is one of the most definitive and comprehensive reports on the homeland security sector. This detailed report forecasts 27 national markets with 9 submarket forecasts within each individual national market, providing the reader with extremely thorough market analysis.

The homeland security market is expected to record sustained growth throughout the forecast period 2013-2023. Of course, the sheer range and diversity of the homeland security market analysed within this comprehensive report (across 27 national markets and 9 submarkets in each national market) demonstrates significant regional variations, but this should not discount the impressive growth prospects that exist for homeland security spending both in mature and developing markets. While defence spending falls in many developed markets, homeland security spending is expected to record continually impressive growth; the effect of unsecured spaces for public safety, national security, and economic order all combine to ensure that the continued threat will mandate significant spending in order to counter this threat. In other markets, the dual use of homeland security for establishing public order will also lead to sustained spending across a range of submarkets. Visiongain has assessed that global homeland security spending will reach an impressive $249.43bn in 2013.

A significant range of historical developments have conditioned the growth of the homeland security market, which essentially crystallised following the terrorist attacks on the US in September 2001, while it is expected that newer factors will become increasingly prominent in the market as the forecast develops. The emergence of new technologies, particularly surveillance and access based systems, is expected to represent a major prospect while the importance of major international sporting and political events are similarly expected to provide significant boosts throughout the forecast period. All of these factors, and many more besides, will continue to provide funding opportunities throughout the forecast period.

Home Care Assistance - Toronto/York Region, a Leader in In-Home Care, Weighs in on Study Showing Link Between Alzheimer’s Disease and Type 2 Diabetes

Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) December 04, 2013

Home Care Assistance - Toronto / York Region (HomeCareAssistance-Toronto.com), the leading provider of non-medical and in-home senior care in the Greater Toronto Area, is weighing in on a recent study showing a link between Alzheimer’s disease and type 2 diabetes. The company is also announcing the top benefits of using an in-home caregiver to help those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

Researchers from Albany University in New York State say they have uncovered evidence that Alzheimer’s may actually be the late stages of type 2 diabetes. The researchers believe the excess insulin that people with type 2 diabetes produce disrupts key chemicals in the brain. This would also explain why roughly three-quarters of those with type 2 diabetes develop Alzheimer’s. (Source: Edmonds, L. and Borland, S., “Could Alzheimer's be Type 2 diabetes? Scientists claim extra insulin produced by those with disease disrupts brain chemistry,” The Daily Mail web site, December 1, 2013; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2516438/Could-Alzheimers-Type-2-diabetes-Scientists-claim-extra-insulin-produced-disease-disrupts-brain-chemistry.html.)

“The medical community has long suspected there was an increased risk of Alzheimer’s for those with type 2 diabetes,” says Lester Fix, executive vice president of Home Care Assistance - Toronto / York Region. “It’s quite possible that this link has gone undetected since people with type 2 diabetes, because they are often obese, tend to have a short life expectancy.”

In Canada, an estimated 500,000 people suffer from Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia. Type 2 diabetes, on the other hand, is one of the fastest-growing diseases in Canada, with more than 60,000 new cases reported annually. (Sources: “Statistics,” Alzheimer Society Toronto web site; http://www.alzheimertoronto.org/ad_Statistics.htm, last accessed December 3, 2013; “Type 2 diabetes,” Healthy Canadians web site, November 14, 2013; http://healthycanadians.gc.ca/health-sante/disease-maladie/diabete-eng.php.)

“By 2015, it’s projected that as much as 50% of Canadians and their families could be facing Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia, and that number could rise significantly in the coming years,” Fix observes. “In 2011, the first of Canada’s ‘baby boomers’ reached the age of 65; today in Canada, baby boomers make up 30% of the population. By 2051, roughly one in four is expected to be 65 or over.” (Source: Kidd, D., “Canada’s baby boom different from U.S.,” Toronto Star web site, March 9, 2013; http://www.thestar.com/news/insight/2013/03/09/canadas_baby_boom_different_from_us.html.)

Caregiving is a critical issue for those living with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia, Fix explains. Unfortunately, it can be overwhelming and stressful for family members to take care of their loved ones, potentially leading to burnout. As symptoms progress, individuals with Alzheimer’s will require around-the-clock safety monitoring, as well as support with lifestyle and household activities.

Families considering an in-home senior care provider should look for a firm with unmatched expertise working with those with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. It’s also important to ensure the company can tailor a plan to suit their unique physical, mental, and emotional needs. A live-in home care company that focuses on personal safety, hygiene, and nutrition; provides orientation activities regarding time, people, and places; and offers respite services for family members.

“If you are considering care options for your loved one or if you are a family caregiver in need of respite, Home Care Assistance is here to help,” Fix concludes. “As an Alzheimer’s Early Detection Alliance (AEDA) Champion and the leading experts in live-in care, we understand the needs of individuals who require around-the-clock assistance. Our Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Training and Alzheimer’s Care Plans help us tailor our services to better serve individuals with Alzheimer’s.”

Geologist almost lost his life mapping unknown Antarctic regions in ‘the Edwardian equivalent of space travel’ When Douglas Mawson plodded into base camp at Commonwealth Bay in Antarctica in February 1913 his fellow explorers barely recognised him. The geologist was in apalling physical shape after a harrowing journey into the Antarctic interior during which two of his fellow explorers had died. Foreskin Man Strikes a Blow against Infant Foreskin Trafficking

0

In the latest intactivist comic book from MGMbill.org, Foreskin Man duels with the world’s most notorious infant foreskin trafficker in the skies above Las Vegas.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 04, 2013

Foreskin Man returns to America in the fifth comic book published by MGMbill.org, a California based group working to legally protect boys from forced circumcision. In this episode, Foreskin Man takes aim at BioFlesh International, the world’s largest supplier of infant foreskins and other gray market body parts.

With infant circumcision rates plummeting, BioFlesh International is scrambling to keep product in stock for their growing foreskin trafficking business. To make matters worse, the Museum of Genital Integrity is unveiling a new “Instruments of Torture” circumcision exhibit to scare off would-be baby cutters. Does this spell the end of BioFlesh? Not if CEO Max Warmong can help it.

“Foreskin Man #5: BioFlesh” is written by Matthew Hess, who is also the president of MGMbill.org. Hess commissioned three artists to illustrate the vertigo-inducing story that features the return of intactivist Aurora Tattington and the introduction of her young son, Tito.

“As strange as it sounds, and without the knowledge of most parents, some infant foreskins are actually sold for profit after they are forcefully amputated from infants,” said Hess. “One popular use for foreskins is women’s anti-wrinkle face cream (1). So while hundreds of thousands of U.S. boys suffer from male genital mutilation each year, American companies profit from their pain and disfigurement.”

Other uses for foreskin fibroblasts include cosmetic test samples (2), skin grafts (3), and even treatments for baldness (4). Although the buying and selling of infant foreskins has been going on for decades, parents are typically unaware that the business practice provides a hidden incentive for hospitals and clinics to peddle a surgery that the Royal Dutch Medical Association calls “a violation of children’s rights to autonomy and physical integrity”.

“Foreskins taken from infant males are stolen property,” said Hess. “The only person who can consent to the removal or sale of a body part is the owner himself, and the U.S. government needs to act now to pass legislation that protects boys from forceful circumcision.”

Until then, it’s up to Foreskin Man to rescue these innocent babies from the scalpel. Foreskin Man #5 is available to read and download for free at http://www.foreskinman.com. Printed copies may also be purchased online or ordered through a local comic book store.

Aurora treatment center offers programs to stop drug and alcohol dependency in its tracks. Call (855) 912-7867 for an appointment at Drug Addiction Treatment Centers.

Aurora, CO (PRWEB) December 04, 2013

An Aurora treatment center is announcing that an updated, new consultation program is available for people living in Aurora and surrounding cities through Drug Addiction Treatment Centers.

This new program comes out of statistical data reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In 2012, an estimated 56.5 percent of males aged 12 or older were current drinkers, which was higher than the rate for females (47.9 percent). However, among youths aged 12 to 17, the percentage of males who were current drinkers (12.6 percent) was similar to the rate for females (13.2 percent). Also in the report, among young adults aged 18 to 25, an estimated 62.9 percent of males and 57.5 percent of females were current drinkers in 2012. In this age group, 45.8 percent of males and 33.2 percent of females reported binge drinking in 2012 (Figure 3.2). The rate of binge drinking among males aged 18 to 25 was lower in 2012 than in the years from 2002 to 2010. Among females in this age group, however, the rate in 2012 was similar to the rates in the years from 2002 to 2011.

Cocaine, heroin, Oxycontin and benzodiazepines are just a few of the drugs that the treatment center helps people put in their past. Alcoholism, a disease that destroys individuals as well as families, is addressed through the substance abuse treatment center’s programs.

An initial step is detoxification from all mind-altering substances. This is overseen by a well-trained medical staff, making sure clients are supported, guided and nurtured through these initial hours and days free from their drug of choice. This is followed by counseling and therapeutic help and support.

Once people leave the treatment center, outpatient care and support is strongly suggested by counselors. Transitioning back into the “real world” takes time, too, and outpatient treatment allows clients an opportunity to share their victories and struggles with like-minded people. When it’s all put together, from detoxification to outpatient care, the substance abuse treatment center gives people a second chance.
