Health care and preventative medicine firm PreveCeutical Medical Inc (CSE:PREV, OTCQB:PRVCF) has seen a big leap forward with one of its programs  in recent days - the Sol-Gel nasal delivery work. The group has received key permits to allow cannabis - flowers and oils -  to be imported into Australia from major pot group Aurora Cannabis Inc  (TSE:ACB) and used for the group's research led by Preveceutical's chief research officer Dr Harendra Parekh. The aim is to apply the Sol-gel technology to cannabinoids (CBDs) to develop therapies for a range of symptoms, including pain, inflammation, seizures and neurological disorders Recently, Parekh and chief executive  Stephen Van Deventer told Proactive they had received interest from leading hospitals about trialling the formulations, when ready. WATCH - PreveCeutical seeing significant hospital interest for breakthrough Cannabidiol treatment Three permits were granted by the Australian government, Department of Health. They were granted to the Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence (PACE) at the University of Queensland (UQ), where the research will be carried out. The firm has also now announced that it has opened a subsidiary in Australia to allow PreveCeutical to better access expertise and partnerships for its drug development programs, Parekh said the hope is that in around 18-14 months, clinical trials will be able to start - focusing on using the treatment for palliative care. "We see an important market for cannabis-based products that are more narrowly targeted at specific therapeutic areas but that are higher value add and being involved with initiatives such as PreveCeutical's is part of our strategy to gain access to these types of products," Aurora, which will supply the cannabis, said. It comes as the legal cannabis market continues to grow, notably in Canada. But the Preveceutical team sees this as a global opportunity. "The cannabis market is growing fast as more states and countries legalize its use for both medical and recreational purposes," said a recent article on NetworkNewsWire. "This is allowing companies to invest heavily in cannabis research to develop drugs and other products for this growing market. Research and design is becoming increasingly important." The news service has also said: "Driven by a growing need for pain mitigation and increased awareness of potential health benefits, the global market for CBD is growing at a 39% compound annual growth rate." Plenty of other irons in fire.. Apart from the Sol-gel platform for nose-to-brain delivery,  PreveCeutical also has other R&D (research and development) programs. These are: a dual gene therapy for curative and prevention therapies for diabetes and obesity. It is also working on developing non-addictive analgesic peptides as a replacement to highly addictive analgesics such as morphine and fentanyl, and has a therapeutic product for treating athletes who suffer from concussions. PreveCeutical Medical shifting the dial in pain management solutions, suggests article Last month, PreveCeutical entered into a research and option agreement with the University of Queensland (UQ) and UniQuest, the university’s main commercialisation company - the fourth agreement the pair has signed over the past 12 months, to develop the non-addictive pain killers. The global market for pain management drugs exceeded $62 billion in 2016 and is estimated to surpass $88 billion by 2025, according to one report. PreveCeutical will own all intellectual property (IP) and UniQuest, the IP and research commercialization company of the University of Queensland, will receive payments for development milestones and sales-based royalties. Scorpion venom.. Interestingly, the company is also working on a program related to Caribbean Blue Scorpion venom, which has been shown to impact aggressive cancers, such as breast and brain. In January this year, the firm said its peptide research and development program was progressing on schedule through the first of three phases. The team is working to sequence the extracted peptides and proteins to determine their amino acid fingerprint. So there looks to be plenty of newsflow coming for investors in 2018 and beyond from this emerging company. Reported by Proactive Investors 3 days ago.

Avitus Dental Announces Virtual Billing Services; Aims to Alleviate Major Pain Points Experienced by Dental Practices While Improving Profitability

New service boosts bottom line while making financial aspect of dentistry easier for doctors and staff; service offers continually educated experts in the ever-changing insurance & billing industry, secure technologies when remoting into practice management software and improved efficiency to decrease write-offs and increase cash flow.

DENVER (PRWEB) March 21, 2018

“Avitus Group keeps the pulse on what type of support businesses and industries need to succeed. Secure virtual billing and Accounts Receivable management (A/R management) is the number one pain point dental practices face nationwide. Avitus Dental is alleviating that pain point and helping dental offices nationwide to become more profitable in this very competitive field, while improving the patient experience,” says President of Avitus Business Services, Inc. Ken Balster.

Avitus Dental launched Virtual Billing Services in 2018 under the direction of Director of Avitus Dental Kim McCleskey, who has nearly three decades of experience as a dental consultant. The service utilizes the latest and most secure technologies to access dental practice software, send claims and seamlessly manage all A/R related tasks.

“Patient confidentiality and the HIPAA Privacy Act is top priority. Because Avitus Dental is committed to protecting the HIPAA privacy act of its members and clients, we insist that all dental billing specialists work from our secure corporate headquarters in the Denver metro area," says Director of Avitus Dental Kim McCleskey.

Avitus Dental’s Virtual Billing Services aims to make the financial aspect of managing A/R simple for dental offices and and their staff by helping to effectively process claims and manage patient accounts, while always being respectful of the relationships practices have established with their patients. The model results in fewer statements having to be sent, reduced past-due payment statuses and improved profitability for practices. If collection actions are needed, Avitus Dental lowers the risk by ensuring that all state and federal debt collection practices are followed. The service also increases profitability by decreasing write-offs and working to increase network fee schedules. Additional benefits include Increasing treatment acceptance by providing patients information regarding their dental benefit plan and increasing treatment acceptance and patient satisfaction through education regarding what dental insurance is and is not.

“Dentists don’t go into dentistry to focus on insurance billing, however, this is such a critical part of running a dental practice that needs to be performed to perfection. Unfortunately, most practices don’t have the time to keep up with staff training in the ever-changing field of dental insurance and billing. The patient suffers and so does the bottom line,” says Director of Avitus Dental Kim McCleskey. “Avitus Dental is happy to provide a solution for dental practices nationwide, and our clients are happy to focus on the growth of their dental practice without interruptions by patients or phone calls regarding tedious billing questions.

“Today's dental practices can range from a sole practitioner to a group of dentists practicing together with multiple locations. Regardless of the number of doctors, staff and/or locations, certain aspects are constant: regulatory compliance, HR, and overall competent management, all of which are key elements of success. The greatest use of a doctor's time is at the chair, treating patients. Delegating these responsibilities to trusted, well-skilled administrators is key," says Avitus Dental Partner and Dental Mastery Consultant Virginia Moore. "Knowing these skills are lacking in many practices, I'm very excited to be providing both the curriculum and the training that will be provided through Avitus Dental's Mastery program. With hands-on learning, mentorship from experts in the profession and monthly conversations, the Mastery program provides what's missing in the dentistry field, a rock-solid training center that graduates confident, well-trained managers.” Moore is a well known consultant in the dental practice management field who is offering Dental Mastery Courses through Avitus Dental.

“Dental practices need to operate more effectively these days. Smaller profit margins, more competition and evolving patient habits are affecting the business side of dental practices each day. Highly educated, talented and well-trained business administrators are becoming more and more important to dental practices. If that’s your role, the Avitus Dental Mastery Courses are for you. The immersive 12-month courses set your practice up for success,” says Moore.

JSW Steel plans to bid for Essar Steel

$
0
0
JSW Steel, which lost out to Tata Steel in the bidding war for Bhushan Steel and Bhushan Power and Steel, has developed a keen interest in participating in the bidding under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) for Essar Steel even though it did not submit expression of India (EoI) in the first round of bidding, a source in the know told DNA Money.

The source said the Sajjan Jindal-owned steel firm is looking at exploring all routes to acquire Essar Steel, whose total debt stood at Rs 45,000 crore.

On Wednesday, a consortium of lenders rejected bids by ArcelorMittal and Numetal, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) created by Russia’s VTB Bank and Aurora Trust, which is partially owned by Rewant Ruia, son of Essar Group promoter Ravi Ruia.

The State Bank of India-led committee of creditors (CoC) found bids by both firms ineligible under Section 29A of the amended IBC, which does not permit companies with links to defaulting promoters to bid for the asset put on the block for resolution of non-performing assets (NPAs).

The industry source, who did not want to be named, said JSW had sent a letter to resolution professional Satish Gupta last week. In it, the steel firm had evinced interest in bidding for the Hazira-based steel firm.

“Three-four months back, JSW Steel had not submitted expression of interest for Essar Steel because at that time it was not interested. It was only interested in Bhushan Steel, Bhushan Power and Steel and other assets (Monnet Ispat). But it is now interested (in Essar Steel) because it did not get Bhushan Steel and Power assets. It could only acquire Monnet Ispat. So now, it is waiting for the CoC’s decision on whether fresh EoI would be accepted or not for the second round of bidding,” said the source.

The deadline for the second round of bidding for Essar Steel is April 2.

According to the source, the SBI-led CoC was split on the issue and is expected to come out with a decision by today. The source said whatever the decision, JSW would go all out to snap up Essar Steel.

“If the CoC allows new EoI, then JSW will submit its bid independently but if it (CoC) takes an adverse view, then it (JSW) will form a consortium with other bidders and tag along with them to bid,” said the source.

Firms like Vedanta and some private equity firms have submitted their EoI for Essar Steel but had not put in their final bids in the first round of bidding.

“It is still not clear with whom JSW will form the consortium. That will be decided after the CoC decision. I am assuming that it (bidding) will be open for all and JSW can come in as an independent bidder. But if they (CoC) say only those bidders (who have submitted their EoI earlier) can come in then JSW will be ineligible to bid on its own and will have to go with others,” said the source.

Queries sent by DNA Money through email to JSW Steel remained unanswered.

The steel firm, which produces 18 million tonnes of alloy per annum, was the sole bidder for Monnet Ispat at Rs 3,750 crore last month. Monnet’s liabilities include Rs 10,359 crore to financial lenders and Rs 116 crore to operational creditors.

It, however, could not stand up against Tata Steel in the battle for Bhushan Steel, which was taken over by the former with a bid at Rs 35,000 against the JSW’s Rs 29,700 crore.

JSW Steel also lost Bhushan Power and Steel to Tata Steel, which bid Rs 24,500 crore for it. Jindal-promoted steel company’s bid was Rs 13,000 crore.

-*NEW SUITOR*-

· It’s waiting for CoC decision on whether fresh EoI will be accepted or not

· If new EoI is not allowed, JSW will form a consortium

· Earlier, it was only interested in Bhushan Steel and other assets

Opinion: Mobility - a meaningless buzzword?

$
0
0
Volkswagen's Moia EV will be the first to use complex Aurora driverless tech

With new ‘shared-mobility’ concepts popping up at every motor show, we discuss what it really means

Lot's of talk about ‘mobility’ at the recent Geneva motor show. Well, around the car business in general, really.

I think this is the automotive equivalent of human resources or calling someone a waste collection operative: it sounds more poncy than personnel or binman/woman/person, and eventually it slips into conventional usage. I’m not even surprised any more.

Mobility – and more pertinent at the moment – shared mobility is the new, oh, I dunno, whatever the last big buzzword was. Green, perhaps? There are so many clichés that follow the car industry around that it would rather didn’t: gas guzzler, Chelsea tractor, dirty diesel. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it wants to shuffle away from them.

Mobility, as I understand it, means transport, and the trouble with transport is that you know how it is when you see those pie charts telling you how much pollution comes from a particular source: transport is always there, not mobility, putting in its 20% or whatever.

Meanwhile, mobility sits smugly on the sidelines watching transport take the rap for what is, basically, the same thing. And when the morning news shows pictures of pollution, it’s always car tailpipes and transport. Not Islington wood burners and certainly not mobility, guv’nor. You know mobility, the irritating little spiv: mobility is as clean as you like. You could blind yourself on its halo. Mobility ferries old people around or helps youngsters out of poverty.

But, let’s face it, it’s just the same thing in a pinstriped suit. And never more so than when it comes to shared mobility. What’s shared mobility?

The car industry – sorry, mobility companies – have lots of shared mobility plans, and you’ll be shown them, on video, in their most utopian state: imagine a CGI city scape, with big plants on every empty street corner, white fluffy clouds in an otherwise blue sky, and the perfect modern nuclear family bouncing out of their apartment to get into an item of shared mobility. It’ll have four wheels, quite a few seats, and seamlessly and silently it whisks them to their respective destinations – the school, the gym, the office. They’re smiling. They’re relaxed. Of course, they are. They’re shared mobility users! And you can see the appeal for – what to call them – operators? Mobilisers? Oh, I don’t even care.

But anyway, Volvo last year signed a deal to develop a fleet of autonomous XC90s for Uber. And even though they might cost a quarter of a million quid each or more, once decked out with the right technology, consider the savings: the cost of keeping two drivers employed driving one car might come to £100,000 a year. Do away with the drivers and, hey presto, free money.

So shared mobility schemes are already being trialled. Ford has one. Volkswagen has one. Quite often they have their own separate sub-brand for them. Volkswagen’s is called Moia. They’ve a new vehicle in development for it. It looks like... Wait a minute...

Y’know, I’m not sure this shared mobility idea is quite the new thing it’s cracked up to be. My local town has a scheme like this already, as it happens. Perhaps yours also does. Some might call it shared mobility. I call it a bus.

Sunflower Bean - Twentytwo In Blue

Sunflower Bean - Twentytwo In Blue An assured comeback that fuses growing maturity with youthful idiosyncrasy...

Witnessing the progression of *Sunflower Bean* is like watching the most transcendent coming of age story. Their sophomore record 'Twentytwo In Blue' carries such a tangible sense of progression, yet it still simultaneously enhance those Sunflower Bean idiosyncrasies that we’ve come to love.

The trio’s dynamic is more vibrant than ever with every element standing as its own in the soundscape, and rightfully so. From the steady rock and roll drums to Julia Cumming’s vibrant vocals, the composition showcase the band’s abilities to their full extent.

The release certainly bear witness of coming together in the post-truth era. Whilst tracks like ‘Crisis Fest’ clearly illustrates the more dystopian traits of our time, there is a beaming hope present throughout the record. With current affairs so gracefully laced into the lyrics, the nostalgia of their melodies makes for an interesting contrast.

The Brooklyn group are getting a message across for sure, and yet the album is just as much of an ode to this specific time in their lives, as manifested by the album title. Their sound can at times feel almost alienating, and yet immersive songs such as ethereal ‘Only A Moment’ and ‘Oh No Bye Bye’ drag you right back in.

From the pulsating glam rock strides to simplistic solitudethe trio possess an aloof coolness. With Faber’s percussion and Kivlen’s guitar bouncing off each other through the folk-rock anthems and neo-psychedelic rockers, Sunflower Bean’s stand as a guitar band stays intact.

In leaving the mythical landscape of adolescence behind, Sunflower Bean have found a maturity and a balance between lyrics and melody that infatuates. Though they sometimes still miss, 'Twentytwo In Blue' stakes out the loss of innocence that comes with growing up, and it does it beautifully.

Says owner John Carroll, "65 years ago, my Father (Richard Carroll), a former Warner Bros. publicist, opened a 'classic' men’s store of impeccable taste and integrity. Today, all of us at Carroll & Co. continue that legacy of providing uniquely better made, better-fitting clothing from 'artisan' manufacturers in North America, Great Britain, Italy and Switzerland. We feature uncommon labels of the highest quality that bring hand finishing and detail to a new level, and an unmatched personal level of service."

Carroll & Co. has remained one of the oldest continuously operating family-owned businesses in Beverly Hills. Commenting on his family store's long running success, Carroll states, "Many of our customer-friends are 2nd and 3rd generation clients. This is because Carroll & Co. offers a level of quality and personalized service that only a family-owned store can deliver. We consistently meet the toughest client deadlines, deal with emergencies, and even bring made-to-measure custom services and tailoring to homes and offices. I am committed to providing our clients with unique merchandise from the finest manufacturers in the world.”

The “Best of Los Angeles Award” community was formed three years ago and consists of over 3,900 professional members living and working in Southern California. It celebrates the best people, places and things in Los Angeles with a slogan “No Ads. No B.S. Only the Best.” (https://www.facebook.com/BestofLosAngelesAwards/)

“The mission of the community is to celebrate the best of Los Angeles and allow its community members to connect with other members who share the highest standards of quality and integrity,” said community spokeswoman Aurora DeRose.
