Honored for her compassion and proactive roles within the Hispanic community, Algonquin, Illinois resident Tamika Lecheé Morales became the recipient of the first annual Today’s Inspired Latina Woman of the Year Award.

North Aurora, Illinois (PRWEB) January 03, 2018

Honored for her compassion and proactive roles within the Hispanic community, Algonquin resident Tamika Lecheé Morales recently became the recipient of the first annual Today’s Inspired Latina Woman of the Year Award.

The award was given to Morales by Jacqueline Camacho-Ruiz, the creator of the highly successful and empowering Today’s Inspired Latina (TIL) book series. The series, which contains three volumes, showcases the poignant collection of stories from 78 successful Latinas around the world. Volume IV will come out in spring 2018.

Morales, a second grade dual language teacher at Channing Memorial Elementary School in Elgin and an actress and playwright, contributed her story to Today’s Inspired Latina Volume III.

“Being the recipient of the very first Today’s Inspired Latina Woman of the Year award is more than just a high honor,” said Morales, who is of Puerto Rican heritage. “It’s an acknowledgement that when you do what you love and you do it wholeheartedly, the world will notice. My willingness to share and help people is abundant. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for all of those who shared and invested in me and continue to do so day in and day out. I want to do the same for others. It’s my way of showing gratitude.“

To select a honoree, Camacho-Ruiz looked at a Latina’s transparency, compassion and activism.

“I chose someone who is contributing to her community, proactive in her approach and who is accomplished,” she said. ““There was one person that really stood out to me and that was Tamika,” said Camacho-Ruiz. “She was unbelievably connected to her community and very proactive. Presenting this award confirms my commitment to Latinas and the magic and beauty that we are experiencing through Today’s Inspired Latina.”

Some of Morales’ activities included working behind the scenes of the Volume III book launch, coordinating the itinerary for several authors visiting New York, and raising funds from TIL book sales in New York and collecting items to help the residents of Puerto Rico who were devastated by losses from recent hurricanes. Morales also dedicates herself to helping families affected with autism.

Proud of being a Latina, Morales said that this award is very special to her.

“We, Latinas, are a force to be reckon with as we make strides in leadership, education, entrepreneurship, authorship, the arts and more,” she said. “We can do it all hence why I am a teacher, actor, playwright, author, entrepreneur, mother and president of The Autism Hero Project, a nonprofit organization. I truly believe we are your everyday Wonder Women. We prove to people that we can do all things and when one of us succeeds, we all succeed.”

RE/MAX Unlimited Helping Homebuyers ‘Fund Their Way Home’

RE/MAX Unlimited launches HomeFundMe™ crowdfunding service, which offers homebuyers a new source for down payment funds.

DENVER (PRWEB) January 03, 2018

In an effort to make home buying easier, RE/MAX Unlimited recently implemented the HomeFundMe™ service. HomeFundMe™ is the first government agency-approved online platform where homebuyers crowdfund money towards their down payment.

“HomeFundMe™ is unique in that sourcing/seasoning of funds is not required in most cases,” said Realtor Troy Hansford, of the Troy Hansford Real Estate Team at RE/MAX Unlimited. “When a buyer is ready to raise funds for their down payment they will work with a CMG Financial loan officer to get pre-qualified, as CMG Financial is currently the only mortgage banker that offers this program.”

The potential buyer is then paired with a CMG fundraising coach who will help them build their personal HomeFundMe™ site and brainstorm as to the best distribution methods based on their personal circumstances. “Now they are off to the races when they start sharing on social media and in their social circles,” added Hansford.

This allows friends, family, their spiritual community, HR departments, wedding guests, and more to contribute. As pre-qualified buyers begin to raise their funds, CMG Financial connects them with experienced Realtors and homebuyer education experts.

“Be aware that buyers are required to complete a homebuyer education course in order to qualify for lender contributions,” noted Hansford. “However, the mortgage process is in line with conventional loan guidelines/processes and is a piece of cake.”

Two homebuyers who have already benefited from the program are Jeff and Hannah Smith, a father-daughter team. They were short on funds to close after the unexpected passing of their wife/mother. “We opened their HomeFundMe™ account on 08/17/2017 and by 08/18/2017 they had raised $8,100 -- $2,000 over their goal,” concluded Hansford. “Many of the donations were $20, $25, etc., while others were $500 and above. This was a heartwarming example of how community working together can truly make a difference.”

Hyundai reveals 2018 hydrogen fuel cell-powered SUV ahead of CES debut

Hyundai has revealed the production version of its next hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle

Hyundai increases its hydrogen push with successor to ix35 Fuel Cell, although it's holding back on revealing the name of the new FCEV

Hyundai has revealed its next hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) ahead of its planned debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) later this month.

The SUV, details of which have not yet been released, draws heavily from the FE Fuel Cell Concept shown at the Geneva motor show last year.

That car had a range of 497 miles, with a power density 30% higher than that of Hyundai's previous FCEV, the ix35 Fuel Cell.

Another advancement over the ix35 Fuel Cell is the technology on board the new car - Hyundai claims that advanced driver assistance systems will feature, although it stopped short of announcing exactly what.

It’s likely to be a semi-autonomous system akin to the Volkswagen Group's Traffic Jam Assist, in which the car controls its acceleration, braking and steering below certain speeds in certain environments.

The new car will be Hyundai's first in the testing of fully autonomous systems, because its powertrain is ideal for coping with the high energy demand of autonomous systems – their data handling, communication and sensors – and it has a long range.

The unveiling of the model comes shortly after Hyundai’s announcement that its first fully autonomous car will arrive in 2021, as the result of the brand's partnership with self-driving technology company Aurora.

Aurora will assist Hyundai in bringing the two brands' technologies to market as quickly and safely as possible, with Level 4 autonomy targeted. Work on the back-end development of the technologies has already begun.

At last year's CES, Hyundai showcased the Ioniq Autonomous, the first tangible product in its push for driverless motoring.

"Our aim is to create new mobility-as-a-service solutions which customers will be really passionate about because they have been tailored to the human with highest safety standards, best-in-class user experience and digital intelligence. The CES show takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, US

Las Vegas's annual technology showcase has become a key event for car firms to showcase concept cars and new technology. Here's what will be on display

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the biggest event in the technology industry calendar, and with the rapid rise in electrification, autonomous cars and advanced infotainment systems, it's fast becoming a key event in the car world, too.

Taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, US, the event now attracts major manufacturers including Ford,  Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Nissan, along with smaller firms such as Byton and Fisker. They're joined by hundreds of firms showcasing new technology and systems that will be used in road cars in the coming years.

Here are some of the key car reveals at CES this year. The show runs from Sunday 7 January until Friday 12 January. We'll be covering all the key automotive news here at Autocar.co.uk.

*Kia*

Kia will launch a new electric concept car that previews the forthcoming Niro EV. The Korean brand will also display a range of new technology, including autonomous systems and what it says is the world’s first in-car 5G mobile data system.

*Ford*

Ford boss Jim Hackett will deliver the prestigious CES keynote address this year. His speech will focus on the development of mobility solutions in smart cities.

*Honda*Honda’s presence at CES will focus on robotics, artificial intelligence and energy solutions, rather than cars. It will showcase its new 3E (Empower, Experience and Empathy) Robotics Concept with four machines, including an autonomous off-road vehicle concept.

It will also reveal its Mobile Power Pack World, which includes a portable, swappable battery pack for electric vehicles and a battery exchanger concept.

*Toyota*

The Japanese firm has a press conference scheduled for CES but has yet to give any hints what it will present. Last year, Toyota showcased the Concept-I, an autonomous electric machine designed to focus on user experience. Toyota revealed a more developed version of the machine at last year's Tokyo motor show.

*Also at CES*

The major car firms will be joined at CES by myriad other companies involved in the car industry: 535 firms are listed at automotive/vehicle technology exhibitors.

Performance EV specialist Genovation Cars will display its second generation GXE, an all-electric machine based on a Chevrolet C7 Corvette Grand Sport. The previous GEE, based on a Corvette Z06, produced 592bhp and set a land-speed record for a road-legal EV, reaching 205.6mph. Reports suggest the electric motor in the new model could top 789bhp.

Tesla is planning a 'game-changing' electric pick-up truck, but a firm called the Workhorse Group already has a range-extender version up and running. The W-15 features a petrol-electric powertrain capable of 80 miles on electric power.

With EV cars on the rise, plenty of firms are focusing on how to develop a charging network. For example, Continental is presenting a concept that uses a wide network of wireless microchargers to top cars up regularly throughout the day.

Augmented reality systems will also feature prominently. Swiss firm WayRay will display a holographic AR sat-nav system called Navion, which projects route information onto a windscreen, so it appears as if on the road ahead.

Plenty of firms will display autonomous driving tech and systems. Phantom Automotive will demonstrate a device that allows operators to take remote control of autonomous-enabled vehicles, for times when self-driving cars encounter obstacles they don’t recognise. Reported by Autocar 49 minutes ago.

Marijuana stocks are getting slammed after reports that Jeff Sessions plans to roll back legal pot rules · *US Attorney General Jeff Sessions plans to roll back rules that paved the way for states to legalize marijuana, AP reported Thursday.*
· *Cannabis-related stocks took major hits after the news, falling as much as 35%. *

--------------------Marijuana stocks slumped after the Associated Press reported Thursday that US Attorney General Jeff Sessions plans to roll back Obama-era federal policies that paved the way for states to legalize marijuana, citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter. He is expected to announce the policy shift later Thursday.

Several of the largest cannabis growers and other marijuana-related stocks took a hit in trading Thursday, reversing gains earlier in the week from California’s full legalization of recreational marijuana.

· Terra Tech, the largest US pot stock with a $407 million market cap, was down 35% on the news.
· Cannabis Science was also down 35% on the news.
· Medical Marijuana Inc was down 22.74% on the news.
· Canopy Growth, the largest Canadian marijuana stock, was trading down about 9%.
· Aurora Cannabis plummeted 13% on the news and was trading down roughly 8% mid-morning.

The new policy is expected to allow US attorneys in individual states to decide how to enforce federal marijuana laws in their borders, reversing a 2013 policy memo stating that the federal government wouldn't interfere with states legalizing marijuana, AP reported.

Sessions has previously touted marijuana as a “gateway drug," saying it could lead to use of much more harmful drugs. This has been debunked by numerous scientific studies.

Recreational marijuana is projected to bring in $1 billion in tax revenue from the eight states, plus Washington DC, that have legalized it so far.
