Benetech, Inc. has addressed the great need in the bulk material–handling industry for production corrections and solutions that do not require installing a complete system.

Aurora, IL (PRWEB) April 25, 2017

Benetech, Inc. has addressed the great need in the bulk material–handling industry for production corrections and solutions that do not require installing a complete system.

Benetech’s MaxZone® conveyor skirtboard system accommodates situations in which an existing component is flawed, aging or failing but budget and time constraints exclude a full system replacement. Its modular design allows easy change-out of components for all applications without special permits or lengthy shutdowns. The system also requires no welding.

The conveyor skirtboard system further applies leading dust- and spillage-control technologies as standard features to help keep an operation clean, safe and productive. It is available in standard sizes and lengths based on the conveyor belt width and speed as well.
MaxZone conveyor skirting and dust control components include:

MaxZone XN Wearliner – an externally adjusted internal wearliner that seals the system and extends the life and production of existing chute work

Warrior Impact Bed – a rigid frame with soft rubber bars for conveyor-belt support and stability during loading

Sealing System – easy-to-install clamps and seals for the sides of the load zone

Simple Slide Idler – roller frames that slide into place without the need to remove adjacent idlers

Easy-Change Dust Curtain – a dust curtain that interrupts airflow and allows dust to settle on the conveyor belt

Peaked Hood Design – a sloped design for less settling of dust

All-Access Inspection Doors – convenient entry to key areas of the conveyor belt skirting system

Tailseal – a box with skirting and strip rubber that create a tight seal at the rear of the chute work

“Our conveyor skirtboard system helps bulk material handlers make their operations more flexible, efficient and profitable by letting them continue production according to their current budget, schedule and requirements,” said Benetech Technology Manager Kevin Jasin. “With easy system maintenance, replacement and adjustment, they can maintain steady, swift production and serve their customers at a high level.”

Chris Soules, who starred on Season 19 of “The Bachelor,” was arrested Monday night following a fatal car crash, the Buchanan County Jail confirmed to the Des Moines Register.

Several outlets, including TMZ, are reporting that the crash happened near Aurora, Iowa, at 8:20 p.m. Soules’ pickup truck reportedly hit a John Deere tractor trailer, which was reportedly being driven by an older man. Soules allegedly fled the scene, and the man was taken to the hospital, where he died.

At 1:16 a.m. Tuesday, Soules, 35, was booked on a criminal charge of leaving the scene of an accident at which a death occurred, and has been medically examined. Authorities would not confirm the incident that led to Soules’ arrest with the Des Moines Register.

The Arlington native first gained attention on Andi Dorfman’s season of “The Bachelorette” in 2014. He then went on to become “The Bachelor” before competing on Season 20 of “Dancing with the Stars.”

HuffPost reached out to ABC, who had no comment on the incident, and a representative for Soules. We will update this post accordingly.

Premiere: Only Echoes Remain - 'Aurora' A dense, complex piece of music...

Everything about *Only Echoes Remain* appears carefully thought through.

Dense layers of noise are combined with intricate instrumental passages, falling somewhere between the glacial post-rock of Sigur Ros and Karnivool style prog.

New album 'The Exigent' is incoming, with the band crafting the material into a complex block of sound.

Clash is able to premiere new cut 'Aurora', and seemingly it was the last song written for the release. Only Echoes Remain explain:

"During songwriting, 'Aurora' came together extremely quickly - basically over the course of one jam session; Si had this picked arpeggio, which is how the track now opens, and I started messing around with the root progression and different chord combinations - and then when Craig introduced the 6-4-6 pattern at the end then the whole thing came together very quickly after that."

"Much of the album tracks came from my own older demos, but 'Aurora' was the first song we all wrote together, and as a result I think it's probably the song we're most proud of to date."

Check it out now.

'The Exigent' will be released on June 16th.

We just got our first glimpse of Uber's vision for flying taxis

Uber will partner with Aurora Flight Sciences on its ambitious flying taxi project, Aurora first announced in a press release Tuesday.

Aurora Flight Sciences is an aviation and aeronautics research company specializing in the design of unmanned aircrafts. The company unveiled its concept for Uber's flying taxi service, which is based on the X-plane it's building for the U.S. Department of Defense, in a YouTube video Tuesday.

That X-Plane, dubbed the XV-24A, completed a flight test program in Webster Outlying Field in Southern Maryland in early March.

The announcement was made during an Uber Elevate presentation in Dallas.

“The Uber Elevate mission is all about low noise, high reliability, and low cost,” Aurora CEO John Langford wrote in a press release. “By drawing on our nearly 30 years of successful autonomy and robotic programs, Aurora is well positioned to deliver on this urban solution. We have already built and flown the first proof-of-concept aircraft and we’re excited to partner with Uber in accelerating the eVTOL initiative.”

Uber wants to test its network of flying taxi planes by 2020

Uber wants to test its network of flying taxi planes by 2020 Uber isn't just about cars on the ground anymore. By 2020, the company wants to have its first public demonstration of its network of electric planes that would ferry passengers at 150 m.p.h. through urban skies to their destinations.

To reach its ambitious goal in the next few years, Uber Elevate has partnered with Dallas-Forth Worth and Dubai to be its launch partners. Uber plans to announce on Tuesday that it's aiming to debut the Uber Elevate network when Dubai hosts the World's Fair in 2020.

"It’s push a button and get a flight," said Jeff Holden, Uber's Chief Product Officer, in his keynote at the Uber Elevate Summit.

The vision for Uber Elevate is to build a network of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft that would make aviation on-demand. The project will have "significant cost advantages" over other modes of solving transportation problems, like building new roads, bridges, or tunnels, Uber says. Since the planes don't need to follow set routes, it would help avoid congestion and improve commute times, the company says.

"Just as skyscrapers allowed cities to use limited land more efficiently, urban air transportation will use three-dimensional airspace to alleviate transportation congestion on the ground," Uber wrote in its white-paper on Uber Elevate, which it unveiled in October 2016.

Based on Uber's calculations, a two-hour drive between San Francisco's Marina neighborhood to downtown San Jose would only take 15 minutes in a VTOL aircraft. In an app demonstration, Holden showed how "UberAir" could become an in-app option, just like choosing between UberPOOL and UberXL. Uber says its key to unlocking this kind of urban air travel is being able to understand demand and pricing.

"We think we can start this for roughly the cost of UberX," said Holden.

To get there though requires an infrastructure build out. The company suggests parking garages and helipads could be repurposed to be used as "vertipods" and "vertistops."As part of its partnerships with Dubai and Dallas-Fort Worth, Uber will also be working with two real estate holding companies to work on building the infrastructure needed for it. The Dubai Road and Transport Authority will also be funding studies on pricing and demand for a VTOL network.

Uber is also working with NASA, the FAA, and the National Air Traffic Control Association to work on a different approach to air traffic control.

*Flying cars*

Building out the infrastructure is just one part of the puzzle. The other roadblock is perfecting an all-electric VTOL plane that is quiet enough that it could be used to bring people from the cities to the suburbs, or even across cities, in a short amount of time.

Uber, for now, has decided not to build its own aircraft, but partner with other manufacturers who are designing planes to fit Uber's design needs. At the Uber Elevate summit in Dallas, Uber announced its first five VTOL vehicle partners will be Aurora Flight Sciences, Pipistrel Aircraft, Embraer, Mooney, and Bell Helicopter.

Here's what Aurora is envisioning for what an Uber VTOL plane could look like:

While these types of vertical take-off aircraft might sound similar to helicopters, Uber argues that the planes would have key advantages over helicopters: since they'll be electric, the planes would have zero emissions, and they'll be significantly less noisy than helicopters.

“The Uber Elevate mission is all about low noise, high reliability, and low cost,” said Aurora CEO John Langford in a press release about the news. “We have already built and flown the first proof-of-concept aircraft and we’re excited to partner with Uber in accelerating the eVTOL initiative.”

Launching a demonstration in a few years is ambitious for the $69 billion ride-hailing company that's currently saddled with enough problems across its other business units. But Uber seems to be aware of the challenges ahead in its path.

"We have a lot of work to do," Holden said. "This isn’t going to be easy.”

Uber just unveiled its ambitious flying taxi plan — but it will have a lot of competition (GOOGL) Uber just revealed new details about its flying taxi project.

At a Tuesday conference in Dallas, Uber revealed it will demo the futuristic transport system in 2020 with the help of partners like Embraer and Aurora Flight Sciences. It's not the first time Uber has announced its intention to enter the realm of science fiction; the ride-hailing service released a white paper for its Uber Elevate plan in late October.

Uber, along with most companies in the space, aren't releasing the flying cars you saw in "Back to the Future." Rather, the majority are pursuing electric, vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircrafts for shorter urban commutes.

Like the name suggests, these are vehicles that can take off without needing a runway.

But competition is mounting when it comes to the flying-car moonshot — here are 6 companies working on their own flying taxi projects:

Woman Says Her Fitbit Device Exploded, Leaving Her With Severe Burns

We’ve heard of exploding cell phones and e-cigarettes. Now, a Wisconsin woman is warning about exploding fitness trackers.

Fitbit owner Dina Mitchell said she was wearing her Flex 2 device last week when it spontaneously exploded on her wrist, leaving her with second-degree burns.

“It didn’t heat up at first, there was no warning, it just, it burst into flames. It exploded,” the Milwaukee resident told WISN News of the April 18 incident.Mitchell, who said the tracker was a recent birthday present, told ABC News that she received treatment at an urgent care facility for her injury. A doctor there picked pieces of rubber and plastic out of her arm.

Aurora Health Care’s urgent care facility in Waukesha confirmed Mitchell’s visit to WTMJ News.

Fitbit, in a statement obtained by HuffPost, said they’ve since spoken with Mitchell about what happened and are “actively investigating this issue.”“We are extremely concerned about Ms. Mitchell’s report regarding her Flex 2 and take it very seriously, as the health and safety of our customers is our top priority,” a spokesperson said. “Fitbit products are designed and produced in accordance with strict standards and undergo extensive internal and external testing to ensure the safety of our users.”

They added that this is the first complaint they’re aware of and “see no reason for people to stop wearing their Flex 2” devices.

According to Fitbit’s website, the Flex 2 trackers run on lithium-polymer batteries.

In the past, lithium batteries have made similar headlines after other devices like cell phones, laptops, hoverboards, and headphones caught fire, in some cases injuring people. The Federal Aviation Administration reports a number of incidents on planes involving both lithium ion batteries and lithium polymer batteries. The two types of batteries are only marginally different, according to website Battery University, which is published by Canadian company Cadex Electronics.

Uber Says It Will Start Offering Flying Taxis In 2020

April 25 (Reuters) - Flying taxis may become a reality in the next four years.

U.S. ride-hailing service Uber Technologies Inc expects to deploy flying taxi services in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and Dubai in 2020, Chief Product Officer Jeff Holden said at the Uber Elevate Summit in Dallas.

Uber’s flying taxis will be small, electric aircraft that takeoff and land vertically, or VTOL aircraft, enabling zero operational emissions and quiet enough to operate in cities without disturbing the neighbors.

The company is working with Hillwood Properties to make four vertiports - VTOL hubs with multiple takeoff and landing pads, and charging infrastructure - for Uber in Dallas starting next year, Holden said.

Uber has also teamed up with companies such as Bell Helicopter, Aurora, Pipistrel, Mooney and Embraer to make the flying taxis.

The company, which has partnered with the Dubai government, expects to conduct passenger flights as part of the World Expo 2020 in Dubai.

“What we’re doing with them is they’re going to be funding studies for demand modeling so that we can deeply understand pricing and network optimization in the Dubai area,” Holden said.

Uber is valued at $68 billion and its investors include Goldman Sachs and GV, formerly known as Google Ventures .

The ride-hailing service has recently been rocked by a number of setbacks, including detailed accusations of sexual harassment from a former female employee and a video showing Chief Executive Travis Kalanick harshly berating an Uber driver.

CARSTAR stores educating teens about the dangers of texting and driving.

CHARLOTTE, NC (PRWEB) April 25, 2017

With April designated as National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) Distracted Driving Awareness Month, CARSTAR Auto Body Repair Experts is reminding teen drivers, “It Can Wait” while they are on the road.

NABC Distracted Driving Awareness Month educates drivers of all ages – but particularly younger drivers most susceptible to distracted driving accidents – about how to reduce their risk on the road by putting down their mobile devices.

As part of the campaign, CARSTAR has a new NABC Distracted Driving Presentation Toolkit to help drive home the “don’t text and drive” message. The 45-minute presentation takes students through a hands-on exercise to demonstrate the difficulties of multi-tasking while driving. The presentation has videos and a virtual reality experience, utilizing virtual reality goggles and earphones, to illustrate the dangers of texting and driving.

Here are four tips for reducing distracted driving during prom and graduation season:· Take – and share – your photos and videos before you get in the car
· Designate someone who isn’t driving to manage the GPS
· Have the driver install an app to silence incoming notifications and let the sender know the recipient is behind the wheel
· Consider a car service if the budget allows

There are currently 20 CARSTAR locations around the country that are participating:

· CARSTAR 76 Collision - 174 76th Street SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49548
· CARSTAR Action – 21200 St. Clair Ave., Euclid, OH 44117
