Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 02, 2013

The RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon will pay a May 14 visit to Aurora Christian School, 2255 Sullivan Road, Aurora, Ill., where the balloon crew will present an interactive educational program developed and sponsored by the RE/MAX real estate network in northern Illinois.

The RE/MAX balloon has become a nationally recognized corporate symbol since it was created 35 years ago and then combined with the now familiar RE/MAX “Above the Crowd!”® slogan. Today, the balloon enjoys great success in achieving both educational and promotional objectives, appearing frequently at festivals, parades and charity events.

The RE/MAX balloon will be involved in more than 100 educational programs presented by its crew at schools across northern Illinois this year. The balloon visit to Aurora Christian was arranged by Broker Associate Dave Richert of RE/MAX Town and Country, Aurora.

Two-hundred-twenty-five students at the school will learn about various aspects of ballooning, including its history and the scientific principles involved, and they will see a demonstration on how the balloon functions.

The program will begin at 8:15 a.m. outdoors on the school grounds, weather permitting.

The balloon envelope will be inflated with hot air to its full 75-foot height if the program is held outdoors. If the program needs to be moved indoors due to inclement weather, the envelope will be inflated with cold air so that students can walk inside it as part of the educational experience.

Aurora Gold sees busy year of exploration ahead in Brazil

Aurora Gold (OTCQB:ARXG), a mineral exploration company that at the end of last year held $3.96 million in cash, announced Thursday an update on its activities in the Tapajós Gold Province of Brazil, saying the area for the new field camp has now been secured, with more exploration underway.

Construction of the new complex has been initiated, the company told investors today, and will include accommodation and messing facilities, and sample storage - expected to be completed during the fourth quarter.

More facilities, such as an on-site laboratory and maintenance workshops, are anticipated to be completed in the third quarter, it added.

The company holds claims in a strategic land package of four exploration licenses and two applications covering 16,589 hectares, which are grouped together and referred to as the Săo Domingos project.

Aurora, which is planning to move its listing to the TSX Venture, also announced Thursday the filing for the environmental license - representing the first step toward its trial mining license. The company is planning to test bulk samples and trial oxide, eluvial and alluvial material from various targets, including the previously unidentified Toucano gold occurrence.

The junior explorer said it is preparing to drill test the Toucano gold occurrence with conventional diamond drilling, and expects to sign an agreement with the drilling company shortly.

Meanwhile, an auger drill rig has arrived in Brazil, and is waiting to clear customs before transportation to Sao Domingos, with auger drilling to be used as a follow up in anomalous areas of alluvial and eluvial sampling carried out in the latter half of last year, the company said, as well as in the area of the Toucano target.

A soil geochemistry program is also underway, and will target areas interpreted from mapping and air photography as "potential hosts of economic mineralization", Aurora said. Initial grid lines have already been established, with sampling to begin shortly.

Aurora Gold Corp, with a market cap of $6.25 million, said it is working closely with Haywood Securities to complete its application to migrate to the TSX Venture Exchange.  Reported by Proactive Investors 13 hours ago.

Terror Suspect Released On Home Confinement

CHICAGO -- In a rare move for terror cases, a federal judge agreed Thursday to release on home confinement an Illinois teenager charged with trying to join an al-Qaida-linked militant group in war-torn Syria.

Abdella Ahmad Tounisi, 18, of Aurora, was arrested last month in an FBI online sting trying to travel from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport to Syria. Tounisi was friends with a man charged last year with trying to bomb a Chicago bar.

The otherwise soft-spoken U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel Martin leaned forward on his bench during a Thursday hearing and raised his voice, telling the teenager he should take the allegations seriously.

"This is no game, Mr. Tounisi. OK?" Martin said.

After ruling, the judge stayed his own order to give prosecutors 24 hours to decide if they would appeal Tounisi's release. The judge also said Tounisi's family would have to install a landline in their Aurora home to comply with home confinement orders.

The earliest Tounisi was likely to be released is Friday afternoon.

Tounisi allegedly hoped to join Jabhat al-Nusrah, an al-Qaida-affiliated group fighting Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime in a bloody civil war. Tounisi, a U.S. citizen, was snared in an Internet sting after contacting a sham website set up by the FBI that purported to hook up would-be fighters with terrorists, federal prosecutors said.

Tounisi is charged with one count of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. If convicted, he faces a maximum 15-year prison term.

The complaint says Tounisi was a close friend of Adel Daoud, a Chicago-area teen who was arrested last year on charges he sought to detonate a device he thought was a bomb outside a downtown bar.

Daoud has pleaded not guilty and is in jail awaiting trial. Federal prosecutors don't accuse Tounisi of participating in the alleged attack planned by Daoud. Reported by Huffington Post 8 hours ago.

Terror Suspect Suspected of Plotting Bomb Attack on LIT Ordered Released

Terror Suspect Suspected of Plotting Bomb Attack on LIT Ordered Released Patch Naperville, IL --

The 18-year-old Aurora man who stands accused of attempting to link with a Syrian al-Qaida cell—and is suspected of helping plot a bomb attack on the now-defunct LIT nightclub just outside of Naperville—was ordered released on bail and placed on home confinement and electronic monitoring at his Aurora on Thursday, the Huffington Post reports.

According to the paper, although it is highly unusual for a terror suspect to be released on bail, U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel G. Martin sent Abdella Ahman Tounisi, a U.S. citizen, home on a $50,000 unsecured bond, repeatedly saying that his decision was "a very close issue," but that Tounisi was entiteld to presumption of innocence.

"This is no game, Mr. Tounisi," the paper quoted the judge telling the defendant.

Prosecutors immediately delayed Tounisi's actual release at least until Friday, ABC7 reports, when they plan to file an appeal; they argued that Tounisi is a flight risk and a danger to society, and should remain behind bars.

“We should not underestimate him and his commitment,” to engaging in violent jihad, or holy war," Bloomberg.com quoted Prosecutor William Ridgway saying. “People very young can do terrible things.”

In arguing for bail, Tounisi's defense attorney, Molly Armour, told the court that "the word `terrorism' is a word that tends to taint everything," HuffPo reports, and, noting that official charges against Tounisi are only for allegedly attempting to aid Syrian terrorists, that “he’s charged with attempting to leave the community, not harm it," according to Bloomberg.

The teenage suspect, an active member of the Naperville-area Muslim community with family and supporters from the Islamic Center of Naperville, was arrested at O'Hare Airport in April en route to Syria; prosecutors say he was caught in a sting using an FBI-run mock website to attempt to contact and join fighters with the Syrian group Jabhat al-Nusrah.

In addition, the FBI claims that Tounisi talked in code about placing bombs inside and outside the LIT nightclub to kill as many people as possible; in a court filing, his friend and alleged associate Adel Daoud (charged in a seperate Chicago terrorism case) is quoted describing Lit as a place where "all these filthy people [go] and use drugs and alcohol."

Tounisi's father, Ahmad Tounisi, told ABC7 that the plot could only be planned by Daoud, not his son, and that his son is being targeted for being Muslim. "He never hurt anyone in his life, why would he start now?" Ahmad Tounisi told the station. "All my kids born and raised here, they are more American than some Americans.”

Colorado Editor: The Real Terrorist Threat In America Is The NRA

To say that Dave Perry, the editor of the *Aurora Sentinel *doesn't like the NRA would be a colossal understatement. He wrote in a recent oped that they are the real terrorists in America, and the "guilty monsters" should be rounded up and shipped to GITMO. He didn't seem to be kidding, either.

Via *The Gun Rights Examiner:*

“I now agree that it’s fruitless to give the benefit of the doubt to people who are so obviously corrupt, so clearly malevolent, so bent on hurting innocent people for their own sick gain,”  Perry wrote in his April 25 editorial. “No more due process in the clear-cut case of insidious terrorism."

“When the facts are so clearly before all Americans, for the whole world to see, why bother with this country’s odious and cumbersome system of justice?” he asked. “Send the guilty monsters directly to Guantanamo Bay for all eternity and let them rot in their own mental squalor."

“No, no, no. Not the wannabe sick kid who blew up the Boston marathon or the freak that’s mailing ricin-laced letters to the president,” he explained in case the reader was wrong headed enough to think that perpetrators of actual crimes should be the ones so harshly punished.  He continued,"I’m talking about the real terrorist threat here in America: the National Rifle Association.”

You think he's joking? I'm not sure about that. He wrote that the week after the Senate gun bill went down in flames, and he was lashing out in anger at the group he saw as responsible.

"I’m not laughing. What the NRA did last week was no laughing matter. Aurora is a community that knows only too well the downside of prolific guns, of military weapons in the hands of crazy people, of a nation that’s gone so far off base when it comes to firearm regulations that common sense is beyond our reach," he fumed.

What really had Perry banging his sippy cup in deranged fury, though, was that not only did the mean ol' terrorists in the NRA cheat the "90 percent" by "cheating and extorting and misleading", they celebrated their "successful deceit" when they won.

Anyhoo...

Sentinel commenter, "Peanut Butter" had the perfect response, so I'm posting it in full:

Apparently when the people refuse to accept a law that, by the admission of supporters and detractors alike, would have done nothing to prevent the gun violence that inspired the legislation in the first place, those people designate themselves heartless murderers, gutless sycophantic shills for evil faceless merchants of death, extortionists, cowards, and hypocrites. Apparently it's "common sense" to respond to tragedy by passing legislation that would have failed entirely to prevent the tragedy. Apparently we are lunatics for believing that criminals who are already prepared to commit capital offenses are unlikely to submit to new laws making their illegal acts still more illegal.

Apparently we as a people are contemptible terrorists for refusing to give up rights peacefully exercised by millions as punishment for evil acts of a few criminally insane murderers. Apparently the NRA wields some inexplicable and magical power over politicians across the nation, despite, we are told, little actual grass roots support. One wonders where they store the presses that print their money, given that the loud mouths in the press fail to recognize any possibility that it comes from Mr. and Mrs. America. Please forgive me if I fail to see the "common sense" in such thinking. You'll also forgive me, I hope, if I refuse to give up the inalienable right to due process of law in the face of your outrage that I also refuse to give up my inalienable right to provide for my own defense.
