Funding Led by Experian and Joined by Bridge Bank and Existing Investors

SALT LAKE CITY (PRWEB) December 07, 2016

Finicity, a leading provider of real-time financial data aggregation and insights, has secured $42 million in new funding. Experian, a global innovator in consumer and business credit reporting, led Finicity’s Series B round, along with a venture debt facility provided by Bridge Bank and participation from existing investors.

Finicity will use the capital from its funding to expand its engineering and support teams, accelerating new solution development built upon its data aggregation platform. Expanding upon its financial management and payment initiation tools, Finicity will be offering a variety of solutions for the credit decisioning market. These solutions will streamline the loan origination process, improving accuracy while reducing risk and enabling a better customer experience. The initial offerings will focus on digitizing the legacy pen-and-paper process of asset and income verification.

The funding will focus on growth at Finicity Data Services while also reinforcing operations at sister businesses Mvelopes and Aurora.

“The emergence of the open financial web, and our ability to access and analyze account data, is enabling new thinking in financial services,” said Steve Smith, co-founder and CEO of Finicity. “This will improve existing processes and lead to better financial decisions for individuals and the institutions that serve them. We are grateful to Experian, Bridge Bank and our existing investors for believing in our vision and working with us to transform our market.”

Finicity has more than a decade of experience in financial data insights and aggregation. Its aggregation platform delivers transaction and account data, account history, account verification and account statement data. This information allows a wide variety of financial institutions and fintech partners to create services and solutions for their customers around personal financial management, wealth management, online banking, lending, expense reporting, digital payments and more.

Finicity solutions allow individual account owners to control and permission access to their financial data for use by financial institutions or fintech developers.

With its additional focus on credit decisioning, Finicity has also been recently certified as a credit reporting agency. This provides consumers and financial institutions with added assurances as to data integrity, and it facilitates accuracy and transparency in the credit decisioning process.

“With the multitude of disparate data sources in the financial industry, businesses are struggling to provide consumers with access to financial data through any application of their choosing. Bridge Bank is pleased to support Finicity in accelerating their business and further development of solutions that enable financial institutions and developers to deliver on the promise of data democratization,” said Kelly Cook, SVP, Bridge Bank Technology Banking.

Thomas Fast, Managing Director at Ultra Advisors, an independent investment banking division of KEMA Partners, advised Finicity on the transaction.

iLoveKickboxing.com, the fast-growing fitness kickboxing franchise with more than 175+ locations worldwide announced that Tracy Dennard, a 48-year-old mom from Richardson, TX, beat out 4,345 contestants to win the grand prize of $20,000 in the company’s semi-annual 45 Day Transformation Contest.

Merrick, NY (PRWEB) December 08, 2016

iLoveKickboxing.com, the fast-growing fitness kickboxing franchise with more than 175+ locations worldwide announced that Tracy Dennard, a 48-year-old mom from Richardson, TX, beat out 4,345 contestants to win the grand prize of $20,000 in the company’s semi-annual 45 Day Transformation Contest.

Dennard was devastated after her sister suddenly passed away. Depressed about how her mental state was affecting her physical health, she purchased an ILKB web-special to start herself on her fitness journey. Once she began going to class, sometimes twice a day, her healing started.

“My sister was my best friend; we did everything together. Some days I cried after class but the stronger I became, the better I felt,” said Dennard. “This contest has given me the confidence, strength, discipline, and attitude to move forward.”

Dennard was surprised by the news of her win over Facebook Live by iLoveKickboxing CEO Michael Parrella and Spokesperson Teresa Oxford Parrella, and in-person by Richardson Studio Manager Indu Mannikam during one of her classes.

Megan Mundine of Reno, Nevada lost 18lbs and won the second-place prize of $3,000. At one point in her life, 34-year-old Mundine could not even fit into a single airplane seat. She used the Contest to finalize the last leg of her weight loss journey, reaching her goal of losing a total of 100 lbs. on day 45.

Shawn Collins, of Aurora Colorado lost 34 lbs. and won the third-place prize of $1,000. Feeling like he was letting his family down by not taking better care of himself, Collins claims embarrassment drove him to compete in the 45 Day Transformation Contest. The 58-year old wanted to prove to his wife, daughters and himself that even at his age, he could still be in great shape, with all the vitality needed to be an outstanding husband and father.

Throughout the 45 days, participants were asked to attend at least 15 iLoveKickboxing classes, follow a healthy meal plan at home, provide before and after pictures and shoot a 3-minute video about their journey. Winners were chosen using the following criteria:

1. Physical transformation.
2. Pounds lost.
3. Participant’s personal stories, as iLoveKickboxing believes that an inner-transformation is just as important as an outer one.

Now in its third year, thousands of participants have collectively lost over 10,000 pounds since the challenge began.

“The 45-Day Contest is one of my favorite initiatives at iloveKickboxing. Watching it grow from a few hundred participants in 2013 to over 4,000 this year is incredible,” said iLoveKickboxing CEO and founder Michael Parrella. “It is so gratifying to see the transformation our members experience and to hear about all of their accomplishments, both physically and mentally,” he added.

Although this was a competition, thousands of contenders supported each other through a private Facebook group. In addition to coaching from instructors at individual studios, the company provided diet and workout tips through videos and social media posts.

The next 45-Day Transformation Contest registration kicks off January 2 - 9. For more information visit: http://45day.ilovekickboxing.com/

People Want Jennifer Lawrence To Apologize Over This Story About Sacred Rocks

Jennifer Lawrence recently appeared on “The Graham Norton Show” and retold a story about filming “The Hunger Games” in Hawaii that was not only tone-deaf, but* *culturally insensitive, according to many speaking out on social media.

The actress said that she sat on culturally sacred rocks after the crew warned her not to, as “you’re not supposed to expose your genitalia to them.” JLaw did not listen to their orders and explained how she rubbed her butt on them to relieve an itch, pulling one of the rocks loose, which almost killed a sound person when it rolled down the mountain.

“It was a huge dramatic deal,” Lawrence said. “And all the Hawaiians were like, ‘Oh my God, it’s the curse!’ And I’m in the corner, going, ‘I’m your curse. I wedged it loose with my ass.’”

Many outlets that reported on the appearance, HuffPost included, overlooked that her behavior, or at least her description of it, seemed insensitive to local customs. As BuzzFeed pointed out, “In ancient Hawaii people believed certain stones were sacred for many reasons and often served as a physical reminders of the spiritual world.”

Though Lawrence has told this story before in 2013 ― and admitted she didn’t know the rocks were sacred when she sat on them ― she could’ve used her platform on Norton’s show to apologize for her mistake rather than joke about the story.

Jennifer Lawrence first mentioned the Sacred Rocks story from Hawaii in 2013 & for the record She just found out it was sacred afterwards pic.twitter.com/9e9s7Zg1NI

Naturally, social media quickly welcomed people to the “Jennifer Lawrence is canceled” party and pointed out all the ways that the actress, and her blasé attitude, were extraordinarily disrespectful to the people of Hawaii.

Others called out Chris Pratt for not saying anything while Lawrence was telling her story:

“Blech. Jennifer Lawrence should apologize and needs to never repeat this story ever again,” author and educator Hind Makki wrote in a Facebook post. “And while I appreciate Chris Pratt being unamused by her racism, he also remained silent. You can’t be a White Ally with your face, friends. She’s his coworker and seems to be friendly with him. All he had to do was say, ‘dude, not cool. This is pretty disrespectful.’”

can u not call chris pratt "woke" for just sitting there & awkwardly smiling while jlaw jokes abt destroying native land, the bar is too low

The Huffington Post has reached out to Lawrence’s representatives for comment and will update this post accordingly.

Blue Pillar Wins Platts Global Energy Award for Innovation at the Grid Edge

Energy IoT platform provider earns prestigious award for connecting and controlling Distributed Energy Resources at hundreds of commercial facilities on behalf of electricity providers

Frederick, Md. (PRWEB) December 12, 2016

Blue Pillar, the only Internet of Things (IoT) provider to connect all Energy Things™, was named the winner of the Grid Edge-Energy Management category in the 2016 Platts Global Energy Awards program, which honors the leaders and innovators in the energy industry. The Global Energy Awards are often referred to as the "Oscars of the Energy Industry" and applicants include some of the most prominent energy-related companies in the world. Finalists for the Global Energy Awards were chosen from 170 nominations representing 30 countries – among those in the Grid Edge category were prestigious innovators such as Landis+Gyr, S&C Electric Company, Aquion Energy, and Stem.

The Grid Edge Award “reflects the blurring of the lines between energy service providers and consumers, as players on both sides of the meter seek new ways to solve the problem of intermittency.” According to Platts, Blue Pillar takes top honors for its “novel solution that can now serve not only utilities’ customers but also the utilities themselves, judges expect continued innovative thinking and strong performance from this Industry Leader.” This award further validates Blue Pillar’s increasingly important role in bringing electricity providers and their commercial and industrial (C&I) customers together into an integrated partnership and optimizes the use of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) for energy management applications in both sectors.

Over the past year, Blue Pillar has expanded its energy IoT footprint by networking onsite DERs for both C&I customers and electricity providers helping both achieve energy management and efficiency goals. The Blue Pillar Aurora® platform has been installed at large C&I facilities such as Walmart, Target, Comcast and Best Buy, as well as at higher education campuses, including University of Hawaii and Texas A&M University. The Blue Pillar platform is also creating new opportunities for electricity providers who are able to more rapidly connect DERs at the grid edge to deliver new services, improve customer satisfaction and reduce carbon footprints.

“This award represents a recognition of the vision and mission of Blue Pillar to simplify the connectivity and control of behind the meter energy networks and our employees who work every day to make this vision a reality,” said Tom Willie, CEO of Blue Pillar. “As an innovative start-up company we are especially honored to be recognized by Platts for this award. We’re proud to be honored alongside such an esteemed group of leaders in the energy industry.”
Surging demand for energy networks that provide connectivity, control, and remote monitoring is driving Blue Pillar’s business. Behind-the-meter DERs have seen a 400 percent growth rate in the last five years. This growth represents a significant opportunity for energy and technology providers like Blue Pillar. According to Navigant Research, “a new landscape is emerging in which a more sophisticated two-way grid of networked DERs is emerging which will pave the way for an Energy Cloud ecosystem valued at $1.3 trillion in new annual industry revenue by 2030.”

Blue Pillar is leading this transformation by connecting DERs and other energy systems into a cyber secure IoT technology platform that is open to third party software applications. By embracing this approach, Blue Pillar’s Energy IoT solution becomes the connective tissue for electricity providers’ platforms that are paving the way for new innovative energy services from microgrids to demand response and Distributed Energy Resource Management (DERM).

“Industrial and commercial users are increasingly striving for higher production with fewer resources,” says Sr. Vice President and Equity Research Analyst Pavel Molchanov at Raymond James & Associates. “As that trend continues, there will be greater need for IoT platforms that deliver increased energy efficiency and resiliency.”
“The vision of Blue Pillar lies in a simple question – what would our customers be able to achieve if they had ubiquitous access to behind-the-meter energy information and secure automated control over their energy assets and systems?” said Tom Willie, CEO of Blue Pillar. “Our C&I customers are proving they can operate their facilities more sustainably, efficiently, safely, and with greater resiliency to unexpected events. Our energy provider customers are embracing Aurora to expand the grid edge allowing them to collaborate more deeply with some of their most important C&I customers.”

Platts presented Blue Pillar with its Global Energy Award at a black-tie gala held on Thursday, December 8 at Cipriani (Wall Street) in New York City. Winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges including former regulators, past heads of major energy companies, leading academics, and international energy experts.

A Letter From President Donald J. Trump

The White HouseDear Mr. and Mrs. Walker,

I'm writing to offer my condolences on the death of your daughter, who was one of thirty children between the ages of six and nine killed this week in the mass shooting at Happy River Elementary School.

For more than two hundred years, it has been the sad duty of Presidents to console parents whose children have died in the service of our great country. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, and others have sought to ease the grief that mothers and fathers feel upon the loss of a loved one. The saving grace is in knowing that these young Americans - who died at Gettysburg, Normandy, and on other sacred battlefields - died to protect our freedoms and the values that make America great.

Your daughter was a soldier in a long line of patriotic Americans who died to protect our Second Amendment rights. Their lives were taken by God on battlefields in Orlando, Aurora, Charleston, and Tuscon; at schools like Columbine High School, Sandy Hook Elementary School, the University of Texas, Virginia Tech, and - yes - at Happy River.

As you know, the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States protects the right of everyone in this country to buy an assault weapon. But rest assured; anytime someone from a terrorist organization or hate group commits mass murder, my Administration will take their guns away from them as soon as possible after the crime has been committed.

My thoughts and Melania's best wishes are with you in this difficult time. Although your daughter was only seven years old, she died nobly in the service of America.

May God bless you, your dead daughter, and the United States of America.

Sincerely,
Donald J. Trump
