Design Concepts reveals a progressive design philosophy behind fairgrounds design at the grand opening of The Park at Arapahoe Fairgrounds

Lafayette, CO (PRWEB) September 01, 2016

The innovative design approach is highlighted at the new 110-acre park, a new feature at Arapahoe Fairgrounds in Aurora, Colorado.

Phase 1 of the new fairgrounds park opened this summer providing a new main entrance to the park and fairgrounds, a central green with walkways and a plaza and picnic shelter, multi-use fields, nature play area, accessible loop path, natural surface trails, and water features including two ponds and a naturally meandering stream play area.

The Park Design
The theme of the park design focuses on three central concepts including nature play, interpreting the history and heritage of the region, and 21st concepts of fairgrounds of the future.

Nature Play
The initial concept of the park is to blend the worlds of suburban park with fairground activities and where the two meet, ‘nature play’ occurs. A primary goal in nature play is to bring kids back to nature.

Nature play is about non-structure play. It’s ‘free play’ unbounded by structures or formality. It’s putting children in their natural environment and letting their minds work naturally. Within the park, there are numerous opportunities provided to encourage that interaction.

Honoring the Heritage of the High Plains Prairie Homestead
Another design goal was to interpret the history of the region and its natural areas. The design of the park honors the history and heritage of the original homesteaders who farmed and ranched the regional high plains. This area of abundant opportunity also came with unique challenges including a variety of harsh weather—occasions of drought, seasons of blistering heat to freezing temperatures, and open prairie lands offering little protection from harsh winds. The park takes cues from this environment and its rich history by interweaving cues of this story.

21st Century Fairgrounds
The fairground aspect of the site includes all the facilities needed for major fair events: rodeo and riding arenas, exhibition spaces, a midway, RV and trailer accommodations, and flexible events buildings. Blending a park with a fairground facility opens up a new interpretation for the 21st century fairgrounds. Year-round space is now available, not just when programmed events occur. A new parade grounds and center green create a broader multi-use space for existing and new events such as dog shows, festivals and more.

The first photos of Jupiter's poles are 'like nothing we have seen or imagined before'

When NASA's Juno spacecraft first flew by the planet Jupiter on Aug. 27, all we got was a fuzzy image of the gas giant from a glancing angle.

But now scientists behind the mission are starting to trickle out high-resolution photos and videos taken during the 130,000-mph maneuver (briefly making Juno the fastest human-made object ever launched).

Gaze in awe at this moody, first-ever image of Jupiter's swirling north pole:

"[I]t looks like nothing we have seen or imagined before," Scott Bolton, a planetary scientist at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio and the Juno mission's leader, said in a NASA statement released Sept. 2.

"It’s bluer in color up there than other parts of the planet, and there are a lot of storms. There is no sign of the latitudinal bands or zone and belts that we are used to — this image is hardly recognizable as Jupiter," Bolton said.

But the pinwheel-shaped spacecraft also swung by the south pole of the largest planet in the solar system.

NASA also released an eerie infrared image of a southern Jovian aurora:

The images come from just the first of 36 flybys NASA has planned for Juno.

These are closest views of the so-called "King of the Solar System" we've seen since 2007. That's when NASA's New Horizons probe paid a visit while stealing some gravitational energy to make it to Pluto.

"We are in an orbit nobody has ever been in before, and these images give us a whole new perspective on this gas-giant world," Bolton said in a previous NASA statement.

Prior to New Horizons, the Cassini mission took some gorgeous photos of the 89,000-mile-wide planet before continuing on to Saturn.

Here's one of the most impressive Cassini images of Jupiter we've seen, taken in 2001:

Sometime before the end of 2016, NASA will tighten Juno's orbits around Jupiter, causing it to swing around the planet once every 14 days for the next 16 months:

Once the mission ends, however, Juno won't live on as a relic of humanity's exploration.

To protect any aliens that might be living on icy moons such as Europa and Ganymede, NASA intends to fly the $1 billion probe to its doom — right into the seemingly bottomless, noxious clouds of Jupiter.

NASA's Juno spacecraft reveals Jupiter's clouds, auroras like never before

New photos beamed back to Earth from NASA's Juno spacecraft show the beautiful, giant planet as never before.

Storms swirl in the new images, taken just before Juno's close pass by the planet on Aug. 27. The spacecraft's closest pass that day brought it about 2,500 miles above Jupiter's cloud tops, according to NASA.

The new photos reveal never-before-seen views of the planet's north polar region.

NASA just released a haunting video of Jupiter's clouds

NASA just released a haunting video of Jupiter's clouds NASA's Juno spacecraft became the first ever to fly above and below Jupiter on Aug. 27, and at a breakneck speed of 130,000 mph.

Scientists say the images of the gas giant's north and south poles — the first ever taken — are "like nothing we have seen or imagined before," according to a statement about the mission that NASA released on Sept. 2.

While we're absolutely obsessed with these unprecedented views of the largest planet in the solar system, a huge part of the pinwheel-shaped spacecraft's mission is to record data about unseen processes that are happening in and around Jupiter.

Take, for example, Jupiter's auroras.

NASA has managed to capture views of these particle storms in Jupiter's clouds using the Hubble Space Telescope.

No spacecraft has manage to get as close to them as Juno, though, and record them with a suite of powerful instruments.

In addition to taking a fearsome-looking infrared image of a southern Jovian aurora with an instrument called JIRAM, Juno turned on at least seven other instruments to gather data.

NASA then turned this invisible information into animated video with sound, the space agency wrote in a YouTube video description:

"Thirteen hours of radio emissions from Jupiter's intense auroras are presented here, both visually and in sound. The data was collected when the spacecraft made its first orbital pass of the gas giant on Aug 27, 2016, with all spacecraft instruments turned on. The frequency range of these signals is from 7 to 140 kilohertz. Radio astronomers call these 'kilometric emissions' because their wavelengths are about a kilometer long."

Watch and listen to the very eerie result below (the audio starts at about 0:26).

And if you're into other hidden visual spectacles, gaze at this incredible animated movie of Jupiter's aurora, which the JIRAM instrument also recorded.

It looks like a mashup of classic scenes from "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "The Terminator":

Lazydays RV sponsors “Ultimate RV Tailgating Experience” sweepstakes for football fans

TAMPA, FL (PRWEB) September 02, 2016

Fans who have been gearing up for football season like so many Americans each year have undoubtedly hosted and attended a lot of tailgating parties each year. In fact, tailgating has become quite the rising lifestyle trend in recent years – some even consider it a sporting event of its own that goes way beyond supporting one’s favorite team. For many, tailgating is a tradition that spans across multiple generations. Tailgating is such a phenomenon in both the NFL and Collegiate leagues that National Tailgating Day (September 3, 2016) has been designated as the first Saturday in September each year. And it’s competitive – there’s even a National Collegiate Tailgating Championship (NCTC) organization, “Where Fans Meet to Compete” that sponsors an annual contest for the best tailgating crew.

Fans from all over the country and even abroad, have been known to drive, fly and travel across many state lines just to make it to their favorite team games. From outfitting an SUV, truck or other vehicle of choice, to preparing those must-have favorite foods, or multi-course menus that would impress any culinary enthusiast, even to the design and set up of their “tailgate scape” – family, friends and fans alike can enjoy this treasured sport with a healthy dose of team spirit.

One trend in particular – the RV tailgating experience, continues to grow in popularity and scale. Not just a means of transport anymore, RVs have evolved from road trips and camping trips into unique travel and dwelling adventures – and now the options have grown even more. According to the Recreation Vehicle and Industry Association’s (RVIA) recent survey of RV manufacturers, “The RV market continued to race ahead through the first half of 2016 with total RV wholesale shipments reaching 226,286 units, an 11.7% increase over this same period last year.”

Ideal for exploring the country and serving as mobile event venues, RVs offer the comfort and convenience of feeling at home, even at locations such as a favorite home game. With the amenities RVs offer today, fans can entertain family and friends with complete comfort at any destination they choose. RVs provide everything tailgaters need with interior and exterior amenities, including large screen TVs, full kitchens and immense storage areas, as well as outdoor patios, and temperature controlled bedroom and bathroom accommodations. There’s no need to search for a hotel, food or beverages, restrooms, Wi-Fi, etc. – and the best part is, it lets tailgaters be right in the heart of some of the biggest football social events of the season.

No one understands tailgating and how to create an epic tailgating experience better than Lazydays RV, The RV Authority and world’s largest RV dealership of its kind. With locations in Florida, Colorado and Arizona, the company is the exclusive RV sponsor of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Florida Gators, and most recently the Denver Broncos. And one of their largest showrooms is in Tucson, AZ – home to the Arizona Wildcats. Lazydays hosts family fun RV tailgating activities at each home stadium, including dedicated RV tailgating lots and displays of the nation’s top RV brands. The vehicles are open for browsing, so fans can explore different models available, and for those who are not in the market to purchase an RV, Lazydays also provides RV rentals.

This football season, the company is excited to launch its exclusive “Ultimate RV Tailgating Experience Sweepstakes.” This is a season long contest (July 26 - November 30, 2016) where one lucky grand-prize winner in each team market will receive:·     4 tickets to final home game of the regular season (Bucs, Broncos and Gators)
