Supremacist Frazier Glenn Miller Convicted Of Murdering 3 At Jewish Centers

OLATHE, Kan. (AP) -- The man who admitted killing three people at two suburban Kansas City Jewish sites was convicted of murder and other charges Monday, shortly after he told jurors he hoped to "die a martyr" for the shootings.

It took the jury of seven men and five women just over two hours to find Frazier Glenn Miller guilty of one count of capital murder, three counts of attempted murder and assault and weapons charges.

After the verdict was announced, Miller, 74, of Aurora, Missouri, said: "The fat lady just sang." As jurors were filing out of the courtroom, he told them: "You probably won't sleep tonight."

Next, the jury will deliberate the sentence for Miller, who could get the death penalty.

During the prosecution's closing, District Attorney Steve Howe cited a "mountain of evidence" against Miller, who is charged with capital murder in the April 2014 shootings at two Jewish sites in Overland Park, Kansas. Although he has admitted to killing the three people, he has pleaded not guilty, saying it was his duty to stop genocide against the white race. None of the victims was Jewish.

"He wants to be the one who decides who lives and dies," Howe said of Miller.

The Passover eve shootings killed William Corporon, 69, and Corporon's 14-year-old grandson, Reat Griffin Underwood, at the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, and Terri LaManno, 53, at the nearby Village Shalom retirement center.

During his closing, Miller said he had been "floating on a cloud" since the killings. Earlier, he objected when Howe alleged he wanted to kill as many people as possible. Miller interjected: "I wanted to kill Jews, not people."

Miller urged jurors to "show great courage" and find him not guilty.

"You have the power in your hands to inspire the world," he said. "You can become a man or woman your forefathers will be proud of for your bravery."

The proceedings were marked with frequent outbursts from Miller, who objected repeatedly while jurors were out of the courtroom during discussions about what instructions should guide deliberations. At one point, he said, "I object to everything on the grounds of George Washington, our founding father."

The objections became so heated that Judge Thomas Kelly Ryan temporarily ejected Miller from the courtroom when Miller said he didn't respect the process and used an anti-Semitic comment to criticize the court system. Ryan told Miller that if there were further outbursts, he would permanently eject him or declare a mistrial.

Miller groused before finally agreeing, "I will take it under advisement and try to improve."

ECIS Puts Insight at the Heart of the International School Network

Confirmit provides school leadership with enhanced analysis to drive smarter decisions

New York, NY and Oslo, Norway and London, UK (PRWEB) September 02, 2015

Confirmit has been selected by ECIS, the non-profit global membership organization supporting the ideals and best practices of international education, as the Market Research solution underpinning its membership insight and engagement programs.

ECIS has relaunched its annual statistical survey as the rebranded Global Benchmarking Survey this September following its investment in Confirmit HorizonsTM and the redevelopment of the survey to include enhanced analytics and reporting capabilities via Confirmit ReportalTM. The survey delivers significant member benefit, gathering market intelligence on operational best practices, from recruitment, salaries, and benefits through to professional development and service learning. It will provide the growing network of ECIS governors, teachers and other education professionals with an incredibly rich data set to compare and contrast their operations and services against other schools in order to identify benchmarks as well as pinpoint areas for growth.

ECIS will also use Confirmit Horizons to deploy student engagement and faculty engagement surveys in order to gain valuable insight, observations and discussion points within schools. Additionally, ECIS will introduce a feedback panel that provides market insights on areas from educational technology to higher education placement of students, and more. In short, by using Confirmit Horizons, ECIS will bring an entirely new level of insight and intelligence to the international school market.

Corporates who want to find out more about how their products and services might resonate in the international school sector will also be able to develop and deploy customized surveys to the ECIS panel, providing unparalleled insight into a growing market.

According to Dr Kevin J Ruth, ECIS Executive Director, the decision to invest in Confirmit was based on the desire to improve its ability to help members address two key issues: “Relentless change and competition in the international school market mean that our members need to know how their school measures up on a global scale, in the face of a growing number of new entrants. They must have their ‘fingers on the pulse’ of their school to make smarter decisions about how to meet the needs of students and teachers alike, as well as be poised to evaluate new models of ‘how to do school’.”

He explained: “Confirmit was selected as our solution of choice because it combines ease of use and powerful analytics in an intuitive and fluid process. It will enable us to provide members with a much richer data set than ever before but, more importantly, Confirmit Reportal will enable ECIS to filter and report on that data in ways that we have not been able to do so until now.

“What this means for our members is that they will be able to gain the specific insight they are looking for, analyzing data at a much more granular level. It will enable schools to make informed decisions on a number of fronts, based on fact, not on conjecture,” said Ruth.

Tim Hannington, EVP EMEA and APAC at Confirmit added: “The benefit of gathering actionable insight is that it can drive change and growth in any organization. We are delighted that Confirmit Horizons is enabling ECIS to gather, share and act on the feedback of its members, students and teachers alike.”

The data collection window for the 2015 Global Benchmarking Survey is September 1 to November 1, 2015. A report titled “Recruitment Insights” will be made available to member schools by December 1, 2015, with a handful of subsequent reports to be released by January 31, 2016, contextualizing the full data set. To find out more, please contact ECIS Solutions at solutions(at)ecis(dot)org.

About Meghan Linsey
Powerful. Soulful. Distinctive. These are just a few of the adjectives used to describe the incredible voice and natural allure of Meghan Linsey. She uses her voice and overall presence, along with the songs she so carefully crafts, to tell the stories she wants, or more accurately, “needs” to tell.

Her years growing up in the musical melting pot in and around New Orleans are what she credits as influences of her unique sound. “I grew up listening to Etta James, Aretha Franklin, and my favorite... Whitney Houston,” Meghan says. “I loved the soulfulness of their voices. But I also fell in love with the storytelling of country music and the songs of artists like Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker and Patty Griffin. Anything with grit and soul really resonated with me growing up, and it still does."

Meghan showcased her soulful, signature sound, and captured America’s heart, on NBC’s hit music show The Voice, as viewers voted her runner-up on Season 8.

On the season finale of The Voice in May of 2015, Meghan was the first contestant ever to be able to sing and release an original song on the show. Her song “Change My Mind” immediately shot to the top five on iTunes’ all-genre chart and sold more than 50,000 downloads in less than a week.

· Debut #1 on the Billboard Christian Chart

The Fox Valley Entrepreneurship Center (FVEC) is proud to announce the success of their relationship with Brewers Emporium.

Aurora, Illinois (PRWEB) September 03, 2015

The Fox Valley Entrepreneurship Center (FVEC) is proud to announce the success of their relationship with Brewers Emporium. The brewery is planning on a location in the western suburbs of Chicago.
Rachel Kingsley and her husband, Andrew, knew they were ready to start a brewery, so they built a plan. During this process, they turned to Sybil Ege at the Illinois Small Business Development Center (ILSBDC) at Elgin Community College for help. From Sybil they learned of the FVEC. They pitched their concept to the FVEC and were chosen to receive assistance. Since then, the original plan has changed to reflect what will make their brewery special.

“Andy Parker, an experienced FVEC Business Consultant, worked closely with us,” states Rachel Kingsley. “He ensured that our business plan was polished and ready to go. Now we are obtaining investment capital for our start up brewing business.”

“The Kingsleys are a pleasure to work with. They are driven by their passion for their business and desire to succeed,” says Austin Dempsey, President of the FVEC. “They have a clear direction they are moving in and are uniquely positioning themselves in the market.”

The FVEC works with business owners and entrepreneurs at every stage, from those who have a business concept to people who have been in business for decades. The FVEC’s goal is to make the community a stronger and more vibrant place for everyone.

About FVEC

The Fox Valley Entrepreneurship Center (FVEC) began in 2010 as a collaboration between several local entrepreneurs and supporting organizations. The mission of the FVEC is to provide critical support to companies to help them create jobs, expand their business and grow revenue. Further, they foster an environment in which businesses strive for excellence and where innovation is nourished. This is accomplished through training and advising the business owner, providing strategic introductions and engaging in strategic/growth planning across all areas of a business. As a non-profit, the center supports these programs through private donations and grants. To learn more about the FVEC, visit their website at http://www.fvec.org. Reported by PRWeb 6 hours ago.
