Digi-Me, a digital recruitment technology company specializing in cloud-based, job-specific and employment branding video solutions, announced the launch of its new Candidate Expectations Video Format.

Aurora, IL (PRWEB) February 04, 2015

Digi-Me, a digital recruitment technology company specializing in cloud-based, job-specific and employment branding video solutions, announced the launch of its new Candidate Expectations Video Format. In an effort to bridge the communication gap between recruiters, who frequently get overwhelmed by the numbers of applicants, and candidates, who all too often are left uninformed, Digi-Me's latest offering helps recruiters map the steps of the hiring process through simple, short videos.

Under parent company JSTN, Digi-Me is the first and only HR video production company to transform traditional text job posts into interactive digital content. After releasing its client-facing content management system in April of this year, Digi-Me has expanded its core video capabilities, 60-second job postings and Cultural Videos, to now candidate-friendly expectation videos.

"Our Candidate Expectation videos eliminate the number one frustration for candidates: feeling like they are in a black hole," says Lindsay Stanton, Chief Client Officer at Digi-Me. "This video sets expectations for the hiring process, leaving candidates with a clear understanding of the process and timing and, most importantly, leaving them with a positive feeling about their interaction with your brand."

The Candidate Expectation Video was created out of the need to save recruiters the time and frustration of individually notifying candidates of their standing during the application process. For employers, the new product alleviates the likelihood of a lack of communication hurting the company's employer brand, which 32% of applicants said they'd do according to a survey of 3900 job-seekers by Harris Interactive.

Salt Institute Honors Snowfighters for Protecting Motorists and the Environment

Safe and Sustainable Snowfighting Awards given to 63 facilities; 12 for first time.

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) February 05, 2015

The Salt Institute is honoring 63 transportation facilities across the United States and Canada with its Safe and Sustainable Snowfighting award recognizing environmental consciousness and effective management in the storage of winter road salt.

Clear winter roads protect lives and commerce. Every winter, more than 116,000 Americans are injured and over 1,300 killed as a result of pavement that is covered in snow, slush or ice, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, July 2, 2013 (http://ops.fhwa.dot.gov/weather/weather_events/snow_ice.htm). But studies of highways in Snow Belt states and in Canada by Marquette University, June 1, 1992 (http://www.trc.marquette.edu/publications/IceControl/ice-control-1992.pdf) showed that road salt reduces crashes by 88 to 93 percent.

When the direct and indirect impact of road shutdowns on the broader economy is factored in, road salt becomes even more valuable. According to the American Highway Users Alliance, February 24, 2014 (http://www.highways.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/economic-costs-of-snowstorms.pdf), a one-day major snowstorm can cost a state $300-$700 million in direct and indirect costs, lost commerce and productivity. In fact, deicing pays for itself within the first 25 minutes after the salt is spread—making proper salt storage and timely deicing a smart investment.

“These facilities have cleared a high bar,” said Salt Institute President Lori Roman. “For example, in minimizing salt runoff alone, 10 specific recommendations must be met.”

About 17 million tons of deicing salt is applied to roadways in the U.S. each year according to the U.S. Geological Survey, September 22, 2014 (http://minerals.usgs.gov/minerals/pubs/commodity/salt/mcs-2014-salt.pdf).Having enough road salt on hand before storms hit requires advance planning and facilities that provide safe and efficient storage. Winners must also display proper maintenance and good housekeeping practices.

“The familiar sight of trucks spreading salt on icy winter roads gives motorists reassurance, as it should,” said Roman. “If that salt was stored in and spread by a facility honored with a Safe and Sustainable Snowfighting award, motorists have the added assurance of knowing the utmost care has been taken to protect public safety and the environment.”

A complete list of winners follows.

Play Lounge

The neon-lime façade of this Elmhurst bar offers three edicts: eat, drink, party. Yet none seemed quite possible for a pair of new arrivals, one night, when a bachelorette party, composed mainly of young women with aurora-borealis-themed eyeshadow, thronged the strobe-lit dance floor, bowling alley, and a dozen leather banquettes. Dark, dank, and cavernous, Play Lounge is a sort of urban sorority house that not only peddles the idea of everlasting youth but energetically cultivates a blingy wonderland as imagined in an R. & B. music video. Ping-Pong and billiard tables are as much recreational equipment as they are props for the draping of languorous limbs in spandex minis (the dress code forbids “excessively baggy clothing”). Hookah beer towers (strawberry, mint, melon) are hailed like cabs on a busy avenue. On a recent Sunday, a bartender in a leather corset leaned over the fluorescent counter and asked the indecisive pair if they might be interested in a Threesome. “I hate asking that,” she winked, referring to a concoction made from a piña colada, Bacardi 151, and Amaretto. “It gets pretty ratchet up in here.” “Hatchet?” one friend whispered, after the two had received a Hpnotiq mojito (sugary lemonade with rum) and spiked coffee (Häagen-Dazs with a dash of Captain Morgan). “No,” the other sighed. “Look it up in a Beyoncé video.” ♦ Reported by The New Yorker 9 hours ago.

Chicagoland area community will walk to raise awareness for neurological disorder.

Lenexa, Kan. (PRWEB) February 06, 2015

This March, the International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF) invites the community of Aurora, Ill., to celebrate National Essential Tremor Awareness Month by hosting a fundraising walk at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, at Rush-Copley Healthplex located at 1900 Ogden Avenue. Participants can register at http://www.essentialtremor.org.

March is National Essential Tremor Awareness Month, an important time for people of all ages, from all walks of life, to walk together to increase awareness of the most common neurological movement disorder in their communities. It allows everyone to share their story, make connections and keep the conversations going.

Essential tremor (ET), which affects nearly 10 million people in the U.S., is the most common neurological movement disorder, but is frequently misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s disease. The condition is often characterized by rhythmic, involuntary and uncontrollable shaking of the hands and arms, the head, voice, legs and trunk during movement, making daily tasks difficult if not impossible. While not life threatening, ET is a serious and progressive condition that can significantly affect a person’s quality of life – socially, professionally and emotionally. At this time there is no cure for essential tremor.

The local ET Awareness Walk will join communities all throughout the country to fund tools and support for healthcare providers, the public, and those affected by ET and research to find treatment options, the cause and ultimately, a cure for this life-altering condition.

Lynn Bernau’s personal connection to ET drives her to raise awareness in her local community by organizing an ET walk in the Chicagoland area, “I want others in my community to join my walk to help raise awareness and bring hope to all those in the Chicago area who are affected by ET,” said Bernau.

Walk registration requires a $25 donation and comes with a complimentary event T-shirt for participants to wear throughout the year in an effort to raise even more awareness about ET. For more information or to register, please visit http://www.essentialtremor.org.

About the International Essential Tremor Foundation
Headquartered in Lenexa, Kan., and founded in 1988, the International Essential Tremor Foundation is the leading organization in the world dedicated to those affected by essential tremor. The mission of the IETF is to fund research that will find the cause of essential tremor and lead to better treatments and a cure, increase awareness about ET, and provide educational materials, tools and support to healthcare providers, the public, and those directly affected by ET. The IETF has distributed more than $750,000 in research grants, to fund 30 promising studies, in the search for the cause of ET. The Foundation has hosted numerous community awareness events across the U.S. to provide those affected with the basic knowledge necessary to become their own advocate when seeking treatment. And, the IETF also provides assistance to a vast network of support groups around the world.
