Apollo Minerals has early encouragement from South Australia drilling

$

0
Apollo Minerals' (ASX:AON) recently completed drilling program at its Mars Aurora Tank and Eagle Hawk joint ventures in the Gawler Craton, South Australia, has already returned encouraging gold grades from assay results.

Other holes drilled intersected wide spread mineral alteration including sulphide intersections, ‘red rock’ potassium development, iron oxide and heavy mineral enrichment.

Further results are expected soon with assays from the remaining six holes pending.

At the Commonwealth Hill joint venture project with Robert Friedland’s High Power Exploration (HPX), drilling has intersected encouraging anomalous iron, copper, gold and silver that are consistent with IOCG mineralisation models.

This suggests the potential for IOCG discovery remains high.

*
Mars Aurora Tank and Eagle Hawk*

The recently completed drilling program of 3 holes at the Mars Aurora Tank JV and 6 holes at the Eagle Hawk JV was designed to test for signs of alteration and IOCG mineralisation across wide spaced (>5km) targets.

The first of three reverse circulation holes at Mars Aurora Tank returned a near-surface intersection of 4 metres at 5 grams per tonne gold from 16 metres.

The second hole intersected favourable rock types and structure displaying multiple episodes of deformation and mineral alteration.

Intensely sheared mafic and granitic rock units were intersected with development of chlorite, strong carbonate veining and sericitic alteration.

Complete results from the third hole at Mars Aurora Tank are expected from the laboratory shortly.

The gold intersection is encouraging as it supports previous gold intersections made by earlier explorers, including 2-3g/t gold intersected in a number of holes.

The combination of results together with surface gold in calcrete supports the potential for significant gold mineralised system to be identified.

At the Eagle Hawk JV, six reverse circulation holes including a diamond-core extension of a single hole were drilled.

Full assay results have been received from drill hole 14BUN001 which included a significant 80 metres drilled thickness intersection of an iron rich intrusive unit containing 180ppm copper and 10.7 % iron from 4 metres drilled depth.

The results are encouraging and demonstrate that the mineralised system contains anomalous iron and copper.

Visual inspection of drill samples in other holes intersected sulphide mineralisation, ‘red rock’ potassium development and heavy mineral enrichment.

Final assay results for remaining drill holes are pending and will be released to the market as received by the company.

Apollo is earning a 75% interest in Mars Aurora Tank from Marmota Energy (ASX:MEU) and Eaglehawk from Mincor Resources (ASX Code: MCR).

*
HPX Commonwealth Hill JV Project*

A maiden drilling program was carried out to follow up the HPX led, large scale induced Polarisation survey across the Wirrida Intrusive Complex.

The program drilled a combination of 4 reverse circulation and diamond-core holes totalling 906 metres and targeted a number of strong chargeable anomalies.

Drilling intersected disseminated sulphide mineralisation in two drill holes including drilled thickness intervals of 8 metres at 223ppm copper, 17.5ppb gold and 10.2 % iron from 284 metres in WIRDD001, and 130ppm copper, 2.13 ppb gold and 8.376% iron from 160 metres in B53DD001.

This phase of drilling was the first to test sub surface geology below 100 metres from surface where the upper 75 metres is comprised dominantly of transported cover or highly leached and weathered saprock.

Drilling intersected basic rock types with alteration patterns similar to other South Australian IOCG discoveries including BHPB’s Wirrda Well.

Interpretation of results and geological setting establish a strong analogy between Apollo’s Wirrida Intrusive Complex to Oz Minerals White Hill Intrusive Complex, which is adjacent to the major Prominent Hill IOCG deposit located only 100 kilometres to the east.

These relationships further strengthen the possibility for the discovery of IOCG mineralisation in the local area.

As soon as the drilling results become available, HPX will analyse them with the intention of formulating and communicating the exploration plans for 2015 to the market.*Analysis*

Interest in Apollo Minerals drill program at the Mars Aurora Tank and Eagle Hawk has been high and the recent discovery of near-surface gold is encouraging.

Further assays are expected soon.

Drilling at Commonwealth Hill with Robert Friedland's High Power Exploration has also intersected disseminated sulphide mineralisation.

These have alteration patterns similar to other South Australian IOCG discoveries including BHPB’s Wirrda Well, strengthening the possibility for the discovery of IOCG mineralisation in the local area.

Taken together Apollo has multiple high impact price catalysts to look forward to in the immediate future.

Denver Real Estate Index Continues To Rise

Peoples Home Equity informs readers of the current housing environment in Denver, CO.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 09, 2014

Peoples Home Equity, a mortgage lender that has a branch office in Denver, has noticed that local real estate prices remain in a solid uptrend. In addition, Denver real estate prices have historically shown to be low in volatility which is attractive for those looking to buy or invest in a market.

According to the latest S&P/Case-Shiller home price index, the Denver index increased by 0.5% to 156.17 in August by 0.5%. The index is up 6.3% year-over-year which may not sound like a lot, but it’s impressive when considering that the average Denver index change on a year-over-year basis in August has been just 3.8% for the past 5 years (6.3% this year, 10.1% 2013, 5.5% 2012, -1.6% 2011, -1.2% 2010). In August 2006, the index peaked at 140.28 and subsequently troughed in February 2009 at 120.21. With just a -21% decline from peak to trough during the housing crisis, Peoples Home Equity has identified Denver has a low volatility area in terms of index/price performance.

As shown in DQnews.com's Denver Area Home Sale Activity page, six downtown zip codes in Adams County that had particularly impressive median home price and sale performance in the 3rd quarter of 2014 vs the 3rd quarter of 2013. Overall Adams County experienced a 3rd quarter year-over-year median price increase of 10.2% to $219,900. Home sales increased 12.7% to 2,889. The best performing zip code of the county was 80102 (Bennett, CO) which experienced a median price increase of 60.7% yet only 30 homes were sold in the area which was -9.1% lower than the 3rd quarter of 2013. Zip code 80019 (Aurora, CO) increased by 145.5% while median home prices increased just 2.1%. Zip codes closer to downtown Denver experienced a more balance increase of median home price and sales. Zip codes 80221 and 80229 showed median price increases of 16.2% and 17.8% and sales volume increases of 31.8% and 22%.

One factor that may be contributing to the local strength of the city’s real estate is jobs. Denver’s unemployment rate is 5.1%, this is noticeably better than Chicago (7.4%), or Los Angeles (7.1%), or New York (5.8%), or the national average of 5.8%. Another factor, which is strongly affecting the rest of America, is the shortage of housing inventory available for sale. This means the market is competitive and the likely hood off prices continuing to rise is higher. In a competitive market like Denver, Peoples Home Equity encourages first time home buyers to enable themselves to bid on a property fast by getting approved for a home loan. First time home buyers should be weary of cash buyers, being pre-approved for a home loan not only filters their property search but also gives them the ability outbid a cash buyer if necessary.

Bremont Homes (http://www.BremontHomes.com), the Greater Toronto Area’s finest home building company, is announcing it is giving gifts away to all homeowners who have purchased one of their quality homes.

Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) November 11, 2014

Bremont Homes (http://www.BremontHomes.com), the Greater Toronto Area’s finest home building company, is announcing it is giving gifts away to all homeowners who have purchased one of their quality homes.

As part of its praised customer service, Bremont Homes has been giving out gifts to all homeowners who have purchased one of its homes, including its affordable homes in Brampton and new homes in Innisfil.

“Without people actually purchasing the homes that we build, we wouldn’t be in business,” says Gary Breda, president of Bremont Homes. “So for us, giving small tokens of appreciation back to the homeowners just as a way of saying thank-you is the least we could do to show our gratitude.”

According to Breda, gifts that Bremont Homes is giving away include a digital thermometer and hygrometer, robes, cutting boards, and towels.

“We try to give away items that can actually be of use or beneficial within the home,” he adds. “Things like towels and the thermometers fit those guidelines and help homeowners enjoy their new home. But at the same time, we try to keep it fun by giving away jackets and robes as well.”

Breda explains that Bremont Homes will continue its heavy development schedule through next year. The company has already broken ground on its Noblewood project, which will feature estate homes in Brampton, and will continue the Forest Edge project, which features new homes in Innisfil.

“We’ve done a lot already, but we’re still going strong and developing quality homes in exclusive areas,” Breda concludes. “Next year will be even more amazing than this year, as some of the projects we’re working on now get completed.”

Recognized as one of the Greater Toronto Area’s finest home building companies, Bremont Homes is founded on a vision of quality design and workmanship, innovative style, and exceptional customer service. Over the years, Bremont Homes has developed a number of new communities and thousands of homes in Aurora, Burlington, Courtice, Georgetown, Maple, Pickering, Mississauga, Richmond Hill, and other prime locations in the Greater Toronto Area. An 80-year-old Korean War veteran who is in a wheelchair says he was attacked by a burglar from behind and knocked unconscious at his Aurora, Colo. apartment after returning home from walking his dog Saturday evening.

Lee Pekish, who lost a leg while fighting in Korea between 1950 and 1954, says the attacker left him with a gash in the back of the head, reports 9 News. When he regained consciousness, he says there was blood everywhere and that his dog Toby and cat were right by his side. He reportedly called a friend named Sandy Nolan, who contacted police -- something she says he was reluctant to do.

“I says, he’s going to be cranky because he didn’t want me to call you,” Nolan said. “So if he gets cranky I am going to stand behind you!”

Pekish has lived in his home for four years and told Nolan that he believed someone was trying to break into his apartment for several months, reports Fox 31. He was treated at the hospital and given a CAT scan. The vet, who also survived being shot at in Korea while trying to escape after his platoon was attacked, is a proud member of the NRA, Nolan says.

“It’s a good thing they attacked him from behind or they would have been rudely surprised,” she said.

Police are still searching for suspects in this attack.

UpTick Technology launches Kickstarter for Flashlamp, the first ever flashlight-in-a-lamp

AURORA, IL; November 11, 2014 (PRWEB) November 11, 2014

UpTick Technology today launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance the manufacture of Flashlamp, a table lamp that integrates a rechargeable LED flashlight. According to the company, Flashlamp will ensure homes have a working flashlight during power outages. The Flashlamp product also includes a USB port for charging mobile devices.

Flashlamp is the brainchild of UpTick Technology Founder and CEO Brian Pierce, an entrepreneur from Aurora, Illinois. “When I had the idea for integrating a rechargeable flashlight with a standard lamp, I expected to find it had already been done,” said Mr. Pierce. “Much to my surprise, it hadn’t. We worked quickly to file a utility patent on the concept.”

Mr. Pierce noted that other products have been marketed as both a flashlight and a lamp, but that all have used a single bulb. “When you have a single bulb, then it’s either not a very good flashlight or not a very good lamp,” he said. The patent filed by UpTick Technology is for an independently functioning flashlight that docks in a lamp, where the lamp base serves as the charging station for the flashlight.

A design goal of Flashlamp is that it look like a normal table lamp when the flashlight is docked. “The flashlight really becomes part of the lamp when it’s charging,” said Mr. Pierce. “We want to give our customers the safety of having a charged flashlight right in their living rooms and bedrooms, but that can only happen if the lamp is attractive.”

UpTick is leveraging Kickstarter for both financing and marketing. “Kickstarter is a great platform for test marketing new products,” noted Mr. Pierce. “We can directly measure the demand for a product like Flashlamp before investing fully in tooling and production. That opportunity wasn’t available just a handful of years ago.” UpTick has made Flashlamp available for pre-purchase on Kickstarter.com for thirty days beginning November 11, 2014.

UpTick Technology, based in Aurora, IL, was founded in 2009. Its businesses include software consulting, real estate investing, media production and consumer products manufacturing. Brian Pierce earned a BA in Economics from Yale in 1996. Prior to founding UpTick he worked as an investment banker, an options trader and a technologist for leading trading organizations. 4 Ways Technology Could Destroy Relationships, Love And Sex As We Know Them

4 Ways Technology Could Destroy Relationships, Love And Sex As We Know Them The technologies we're building today could throw some current relationship fundamentals for a loop.

The concept of marriage is based on a vow: "Until death do we part." But what if scientists find a way for humans to never die? Or at the very least, for their life expectancy to drastically increase?

And what if you could pick the perfect genetics for the happiest, healthiest baby possible. Would women still get pregnant? Would people still have sex?

Here are a few ways current technology trends could change everything we think we know about relationships.

*If we live forever, will people still get married?*

Right now, about 40-50% of marriages in the United States end in divorce, according to the American Psychological Association. And that's with men living until 84 on average, and women living until 86. If we live forever, or even if our life expectancy doubles, will people get married later or not at all?

Google is working on ways to cheat death with its project, Calico. Scientists have already successfully extended the lives of other organisms. USC scientist Valter Longo was able to mutate two genes in Baker's Yeast to extend its life from 6 days to 10 weeks. Mutating those same genes doubled the lives of lab mice.

Alexander Rose, a lead engineer on Jeff Bezos' 10,000-year clock, stated the marriage predicament well in the science documentary, Through The Wormhole: "I don't think I could live forever. My wife would kill me first."

*If scientists can create the most perfect, healthiest babies in a lab, will people still have sex?*

A genetics expert spoke with Google Ventures last year about the future of sex. This expert told the team of investors that eventually, humans would only have sex for fun, not to procreate. The reasoning: Thanks to medical advancements and DNA sequencing, people will be able to hand-pick their children's genes. They'll be able to select physical traits, like hair and eye color, as well as talents and health factors.

By selecting the perfect genes, parents and scientists will be able to create the healthiest, happiest, most perfect children who have the longest life-expectancy possible. When that happens, traditional conception will seem too risky. The baby might get bad genes. Expectant mothers risk unforeseen accidents. Or they might consume something harmful. Their children can be born with birth defects or diseases for no apparent reason.

Why leave something as important as your children to chance, when science can ensure they are perfect?

Francis Collins is the director of the National Genome Research Institute. He believes there's a lot of good that can come from genetic technology. But he also describes how challenging genetic issues — like the ability to hand-pick children — will become.

"We say knowledge is power, but knowledge also carries with it tough decisions and responsibilities for making those decisions," Collins tells PBS. "Right now one can test for a small number of things [with genetic technology]. In the future, that list will grow … And the difficulty in making the decisions will also grow. And if we're having trouble now, hold onto your hat. It's going to be much more challenging for couples."

You can also imagine how much a process like this would cost a couple. Perfect, lab-grown super babies may only be for the elite, which could further distance the 1% from everyone else.

*When virtual reality becomes so good that our brains and bodies actually believe we're experiencing something in real life — particularly porn — will that change the definition of infidelity?*

Infidelity, by definition, is "the subjective feeling that one's partner has violated a set of rules or relationship norms and this violation results in feelings of sexual jealousy and rivalry."

To many people, thinking about cheating — while not readily admitting it — isn't considered a death blow to a relationship. Acting on those thoughts, to whatever extent, is.

But what about in the future, when virtual reality becomes so real that you can load a cheating scenario — maybe even with someone you know — and feel as though you're acting on it? And how about when our brains can actually be tricked into thinking it's happening? If your body reacts the same way it would to physically cheating, will mental cheating and experiencing porn become problematic for relationships?

"The Oculus Rift [Facebook's $2 billion virtual reality headset] essentially tricks your brain into believing what it sees is real. People who can’t travel will be able to see the world, while others who might be physically impaired could, in true Avatar fashion, use their bodies in ways they’ve only dreamt," The Daily Beast's Aurora Snow writes about virtual reality's sexual implications.

Adult streaming platform SugarDVD recently announced that it's building an app for Oculus that will bring porn viewers into the action. "Ideally, we’d like to include interactivity as soon as possible,” SugarDVD spokesperson Rebecca Bolen told Venturebeat in May. “[At first, this will be] similar to a ‘choose your own adventure’ type of experience. We already have these options for DVDs and movies with alternate ‘endings’ depending on what the viewer chooses, so we are looking forward to integrating those features into VR."-*As artificial intelligence improves, will we start falling in love with computers instead of each other?*-

It's the scenario from Spike Jonze's 2013 movie "Her," where a person falls in love with his or her device rather than another human. Experts believe it could actually happen. And if you're familiar with catfishing — the act of creating a false identity online in order to lure someone else into a relationship  — then you know it's possible to fall in love with someone you've never met, who might not even be real.

"When we communicate in an environment with fewer cues from facial expression and body language, people have a lot of room to idealize their partner," The Verge quotes University of Wisconsin professor Catalina Toma on the concept. "It can be hard for real people, with all the messy complications of the physical world, to compete with that."

Another professor The Verge spoke with, NYU's Gary Marcus, says relationships with AI could start as simply as the way humans love their pets — they don't fall in love with pets, but they appreciate them and mourn them when they're gone. As AI improves and becomes more like us, Marcus believes falling in love with our devices could become a real possibility.

"It will be awhile before we can have with computers the kind of complex emotional relationship we have with other people, but I imagine people having one-night stands with Androids will happen a lot sooner."

Gun Control Groups Eye More State Ballot Initiatives After Victory In Washington State

WASHINGTON -- Fresh off the heels of a successful ballot measure to expand background checks in Washington state, the anti-gun violence coalition is eyeing Nevada as the next battleground in its fight for popular restrictions on guns. The approach is part of a broader strategy to let voters determine the fate of what advocates say are common-sense gun laws.

Nevadans for Background Checks will deliver signatures on Wednesday in support of placing an initiative on the November 2016 ballot that would require background checks on all gun sales and transfers, including at gun shows and online. Washington voters overwhelmingly passed a similar state measure last week, handing gun control advocates their first landmark victory in a new strategy that seeks to bypass congressional gridlock.

In the wake of last week's midterm elections, the focus has largely been on the GOP's considerable gains, as Republicans took control of the U.S. Senate and widened their majority in the House of Representatives. To some proponents of stricter gun laws, that outcome has only spelled further doom for federal legislation to expand background checks after the Senate failed to pass such a measure last year.

But groups like Americans for Responsible Solutions (ARS), the anti-gun violence group created by former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.) and her husband Mark Kelly, and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety, are largely unfazed by the power shift in Congress. Both groups argued that the real litmus test was in Washington state -- where voters not only approved background checks, but also rejected a competing measure endorsed by the National Rifle Association.

Initiative 594, which requires background checks for all gun purchases in Washington state and closes the so-called gun show loophole, passed with more than 60 percent of the vote. Initiative 591, which would have loosened gun laws by prohibiting background checks on gun purchases unless mandated by federal law, was turned down by about 54 percent of voters.

NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said the group was "disappointed" with the passage of I-594 and that voters had been misled to believe that the bill would make them safer. But a top aide at ARS, which spent about $500,000 on voter persuasion mail, said voters were anything but confused -- that, in fact, they had made their choice clear.

"We ran a highly targeted direct-mail campaign which was designed to clarify the differences between the two competing initiatives and explain how people could cast their ballot," ARS senior adviser Pia Carusone told reporters in a conference call last week.

Gun control advocates said they hoped to replicate the strategy in other parts of the country where state officials have ignored public support for background checks. In Nevada, a bill to strengthen background checks was passed by the Democratic-controlled legislature last year but was later vetoed by Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval.

In addition to Nevada, advocates cited Oregon, Arizona and Maine as some of the other states where they believe they could gain traction on the ground.

"There's no question that we are following in the heels of some other successful movements, like the marriage equality movement that first went to D.C. and found that it was much more profitable and effective to pivot to the states," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown, in an interview with HuffPost. "Our electoral strategy this year is driven by our plans to keep passing better laws that will prevent gun violence state by state, whether we're doing it through legislation or doing it through the ballot."

Hayley Zachary, the executive director of ARS, said that by advancing universal background checks, Washington state voters "did what our country's leaders in Washington, D.C. have not had the courage to do."

"We know that the American public overwhelmingly supports commonsense policies that will help make our communities safer, like background checks," Zachary said in a statement.

Both groups said they will continue to keep a close eye on Congress, which could play a role in advancing legislation that would keep guns out of the hands of convicted domestic violence abusers. A host of states have passed measures along those lines this year, and advocates pointed out that Republican Govs. Bobby Jindal (La.) and Scott Walker (Wis.), both considered contenders for the GOP's presidential nomination in 2016, were among those who signed such bills into law.

Their efforts have been bolstered by a war chest that not only matched the NRA's spending this cycle, but in some cases exceeded it.

Arulanandam, on the other hand, argued that for all of their spending, gun control groups were unable to prevent heavy losses for Democrats in both Senate and gubernatorial contests this month.

"I think what Bloomberg came out and said very loudly and very plainly was that he was going to spend $50 million to defeat the NRA and to defeat NRA-backed candidates," Arulanandam said. "The results show that he failed miserably."

But those advocating stricter gun laws said that Democrats' rough night last week had little, if anything, to do with the issue of guns. Exit polls found that voters were dissatisfied with both President Barack Obama and Congress, and that a majority of Americans ranked the economy as one of the most important issues informing their vote. A HuffPost/YouGov poll conducted shortly before the election also found that guns were not a top campaign issue for voters in federal elections.

And in races where guns did rise to the forefront, candidates who backed stricter gun laws prevailed.

Bloomberg adviser Howard Wolfson pointed to the re-elections of Govs. Dan Malloy (Conn.) and John Hickenlooper (Colo.), both Democrats, as evidence of anything but failure. Bloomberg spent nearly $2 million through his group Independence USA PAC to help prop up Malloy by running ads that criticized GOP candidate Tom Foley's opposition to background checks.

Last year, Malloy signed into law a comprehensive gun control package after his state was left reeling from the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. Foley came out against that legislation and repeatedly sought to duck the issue of guns during his campaign, a move that some Republicans later deemed a miscalculation.

"Foley's opposition to the legislation was a big negative for him," Wolfson said.

Hickenlooper signed his own restrictions on guns in Colorado, which has been the site of two of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history -- first at Columbine High School in 1999 and then at a movie theater in Aurora in 2012. The NRA, which successfully got two pro-gun Democrats recalled from the state legislature last year and forced a third to resign, tried for another takedown with Hickenlooper, running ads that attacked the governor for going after people's gun rights.

However, not only did Hickenlooper survive last week, but Republicans also lost both seats they picked up during the 2013 recall election.

"What we found during this last cycle was that guns really weren't the political third rail that they can be in Washington," Feinblatt said.

Daniel Webster, director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research, said the gun rights groups had thus far been successful in pushing the notion that lawmakers would pay a price if they voted for stricter gun laws. But polling shows widespread support across party lines for keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill.

Although the issue is often painted as partisan, because conservatives are more likely to care intensely about gun rights, Webster said the broader group of voters who are registered as Republicans are more moderate on the issue. As a result, Webster said a referendum approach to background checks could be very successful.

"I think it's a very smart approach in states where it's not too difficult to bring a referendum directly to voters," Webster said. "I think when you boil it down and put it directly in front of the voters, as they did in Washington [state], you see a very clear win."

Despite the results in Washington state, the NRA said it has every intention to continue fighting similar ballot initiatives in the future.

"We will fight them wherever they try to enact their gun control scheme," Arulanandam said. Reported by Huffington Post 23 hours ago.
