Independent global retail consultancy invests in Confirmit Horizons for field research

New York, NY and Oslo, Norway and London, UK (PRWEB) October 15, 2014

Independent retail consultancy Counter Intelligence Retail (CIR) has selected Confirmit Horizons to future-proof its field based data collection, delivery and reporting capabilities.

Working with leading global FMCG brands across the travel retail channel, an industry estimated to be worth $60 billion, CIR required a software platform that was robust and scalable enough to support the extensive market, shopper and consumer research projects it conducts. It also needed a solution that could deliver detailed, accurate and tailored data analysis and reporting.

CIR Managing Director, Garry Stasiulevicuis said: “We looked at a range of software solutions to help move our research business to the next level, but most fell short in terms of their flexibility and how they could be used across all areas of our business.

“Confirmit demonstrated that the Horizons solution could support the integration of different workflow steps across our departments as well as offering stability, broader functionality in data collection and data presentation, and more efficient processes.”

Confirmit Horizons provides CIR with sophisticated customization capabilities that have enabled the company to implement rigorous live checks on data as it is collected and allowed the creation of a wide variety of complex questionnaires.

In addition, Confirmit SmartHub, the centralized customer engagement hub within Confirmit Horizons, provides the flexibility and scalability CIR needs to support the range of data it collects for a variety of applications, including audits and market research questionnaires, across multiple languages, both online and offline.

Stasiulevicuis continued: “Confirmit SmartHub allows us to link and compare different sets of data, which is of enormous value across the business and ensures that we can leverage our extensive collection of data to its fullest.”

Confirmit Horizons offers a wealth of additional benefits to CIR, including:·     As a Software-as-a-Service solution, CIR has access to the processing power and security of the technology without having to invest time and money in hosting and management.
·     Time and cost savings, thanks to the ability of Confirmit Horizons to pull multiple areas of workflow into a single ‘universe,’ removing seams of additional work that did not progress insight and only served to convert data into different systems.
·     The seamless integration of the platform with CIR’s existing custom in-house reporting programs, substantially improving workflow and reducing turnaround time of survey and audit activities.

Tim Hannington, EVP at Confirmit said: “We’re delighted that CIR has selected Confirmit’s product suite and is leading the way with its use in the travel retail channel. This is a key investment for the company and we are proud to help them optimize their capabilities to deliver an even more effective service to their clients.”

Stasiulevicuis concludes: “The move to Confirmit Horizons is extremely timely for CIR. Our upcoming Digital Age study is the first project to utilize Confirmit’s cutting-edge Market Research software solution.”

CIR plans to expand its use of Confirmit Horizons further, including investigating the viability of using barcode functionality to change the way the business conducts store audits, and considering new ways to use SmartHub to compare and combine data within the business.

Aurora Spine announces global distribution deal for Sentio MMG nerve mapping system

Aurora Spine (CVE:ASG), an early stage company focused on bringing new solutions to the spinal implant market, surged in midday trades after entering into a worldwide distribution and co-marketing deal with Sentio LLC to distribute the Sentio MMG nerve mapping system.

Shares of Aurora gained 11.1 percent to C$1.60, trimming this year's slump to 57 percent.

Sentio has pioneered a method for mapping nerve location, resulting in improved technology for surgeons to use as compared to traditional techniques.

Sentio MMG is a surgical access tool used to locate and map motor nerve roots and their peripheral extensions originating from spinal levels C3-T1 and L2-S2.

"This co-marketing strategy strengthens our position at the forefront of minimally invasive spine surgery technologies," Aurora's chief executive officer Trent Northcutt said in the statement.

"The Sentio system was specifically designed to facilitate safe MMG monitoring during any MIS spine surgery. Aurora and Sentio share a vision to improve spine patient outcomes, drive continued surgeon interest, and bolster relevance as key innovators in spine."

Sentio MMG smart-sensors employ a proprietary technology, using non-invasive accelerometer-based sensors to measure MMG (mechanomyography) activity, or the mechanical "twitch" associated with muscle contraction.

Sentio is currently cleared for use in the United States by the FDA to assist in locating and mapping motor nerves through the use of mechanomyographic signals and electrical stimulus of nerves. Sentio MMG also has a CE mark for use in the European Union and other markets. Reported by Proactive Investors 1 day ago.

Tribune Publishing May Buy The Chicago Sun-Times' Suburban Papers, According To Report

$

The parent company of the Chicago Sun-Times reportedly plans to sell its entire stable of suburban newspapers to Tribune Publishing, the parent company of the rival Chicago Tribune.

Calling the sale "a blockbuster deal that could change the Chicago journalism landscape," independent media reporter Robert Feder broke the news of the rumored sale Tuesday afternoon. If the deal is completed, Feder reports, Sun-Times Media Group's parent company Wrapports LLC will be left with just two metro papers: the daily Sun-Times tabloid and a free alternative weekly, The Chicago Reader, which Wrapports acquired for a song in 2012.

Tribune Publishing would acquire 38 daily and weekly newspapers currently in the Wrapports fold. The larger editions -- the Aurora Beacon-News, the Elgin Courier-News, the Lake County News-Sun, the Naperville Sun, the Southtown Star and the Indiana Post-Tribune -- serve the Chicagoland suburbs and northwest Indiana.

Though terms are unknown, Feder's sources said the rumored deal was on a "very aggressive timeline" for changes that could take place as early as November. Poynter notes that in July, Tribune CEO Jack Griffin expressed his intent to purchase smaller papers "geographically adjacent to where we run big papers and big brands."

Matthew Hutchison, a spokesperson for Tribune Publishing, refused to confirm or deny reports when contacted by Poynter.

“We do not comment on speculation,” Hutchinson said. Wrapports CEO Timothy P. Knight reportedly sent an email to employees stating the company was "evaluating a variety of investments."

The suburban papers are thought by many to be the most profitable part of the Wrapports newspaper portfolio. Just last year, Wrapports unloaded its Joliet, Illinois paper -- believed to be the most profitable in the chain -- for an estimated $6 million.

Wrapports purchased the Sun-Times Media Group in 2011 after the publisher emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy; it has continued to struggle financially. In 2013, two years after winning its eighth Pulitzer Prize, the Sun-Times notoriously laid off its entire staff of 28 full-time photographers to trim costs. Reported by Huffington Post 1 day ago.

Apollo Minerals intersects near surface gold at Mars Aurora Tank

$

0
Apollo Minerals’ (ASX:AON) drilling at the Mars Aurora Tank prospect in South Australia has intersected near surface gold including 4 metres at 5 grams per tonne gold.

The results from the first three holes support the presence of a gold bearing system with potential similarities to Hiltabaeq intrusion-related gold occurrences in the Tarcoola Goldfields south of Titan.

Nine reverse circulation and diamond core drill holes totalling 1,845 metres have been completed across the Mars Aurora Tank and Eagle Hawk joint venture projects.

Potential exists for significant discoveries as part of this round of drilling while a large number of high priority targets will remain undrilled at the completion of this current round of drilling.

Apollo is earning a 75% interest in the Aurora Tank tenement (EL4433) from Marmota Energy (ASX:MEU) and a 75% interest in the Eagle Hawk tenement (EL4932) from Mincor Resources (ASX:MCR).

*Drilling Results*

Results from the first three holes drilled at the Mars Aurora Tank and Eagle Hawk JV projects support the exploration model for polymetallic mineralisation associated with major intrusive systems such as gold and copper in IOCGs.

High grade gold was intersected in favourable structures at Aurora Tank, and iron rich, anomalous copper mineralisation was observed over an 80 metre interval in the first hole drilled at Bundi South.

A downhole electromagnetic survey is underway on the second hole to determine exact position of the electromagnetic conductor to test for massive sulphides.

Four other Eagle hawk prospects were drilled with visual inspection of samples suggesting significant zones of iron enrichment, alteration and sulphide development including limited copper sulphides.

Full assays remain pending for a total of six holes. Results will be reported as received by the company.

*Mars Aurora Tank*

At Mars Aurora Tank, the company successfully drilled three inclined reverse circulation holes totalling 597 metres.

Drill hole 14AT003 intersected near surface, high grade gold including drilled thickness intersections of 4 metres at 5g/t gold from 16 metres down hole depth.

Hole 14AT002 targeted a dense body to the south of the Mars Aurora Tank Prospect and intersected intensely sheared mafic and granitic rocks showing evidence of multiple episodes of alteration resulting in development of chlorite, strong carbonate veining and sericitisation.

This type of alteration is commonly associated with the development of economic gold and copper mineralisation in the Gawler Craton.

A review of induced polarisation data is currently underway to help with targeting of follow-up drill holes designed to test for sulphide associated gold and copper mineralisation within the target zone.

*Eagle Hawk*

At Eagle Hawk, Apollo successfully completed six drill holes comprising five reverse circulation and a single diamond core hole, totalling 1,248.8 meters.

Full assays have been received from drill hole 14BUN001, which was drilled to test a high density gravity target within the Bundi South anomaly.

Encouraging results were received with a 80 metres drilled thickness intersection of iron-rich intrusive averaging 180ppm copper and 10.7% iron from 4 metres depth, confirming that the system contains anomalous copper and iron.

Four other prospects were drill tested with visual inspection of samples suggesting significant zones of iron and other heavy mineral enrichment, alteration and sulphide development including limited copper sulphides.

*Analysis*

Interest in Apollo Minerals drill program at the Mars Aurora Tank and Eagle Hawk has been high and the discovery of near-surface gold is encouraging.

Further assays are expected soon.

Add this to the current drilling at Commonwealth Hill with Robert Friedland's High Power Exploration, and Apollo has multiple high impact price catalysts to look forward to in the immediate future.

Dr. Kaz Zymantas Now Offers Dental Implants to Aurora, IL Residents Looking for a Permanent Solution for Missing Teeth

Patients with missing teeth in Aurora, IL can now receive dental services from Dr. Kaz Zymantas at his Naperville practice. Dr. Zymantas offers a quick and effective alternative to traditional dental implants called the All-on-4™ procedure.

Aurora, IL (PRWEB) October 21, 2014

Dr. Kaz Zymantas is pleased to announce that he is extending his dental practice to include residents of Aurora with missing teeth and other dental problems. Patients who need multiple dental implants but do not want to wait for months before receiving new teeth are invited to find out if they are candidates for the All-on-4™ procedure offered by Dr. Zymantas.

When dental patients in Aurora have missing teeth due to gum disease, accidents, or decay, it is imperative to have the empty spaces filled in as quickly as possible in order to discourage bone loss and prevent the remaining healthy teeth from moving. Many patients opt to receive dental implants to replace their missing teeth because they have a reputation for being very reliable and strong. They also look and function just like normal teeth. However, traditional implants involve placing a post in the jaw bone, then waiting for months for the post to integrate into the bone before placing the new teeth. During the osseointegration process, the patient is left with spaces that can make it difficult to eat and speak. Additionally, unfilled spaces can change the appearance of a person and make their smile less aesthetically pleasing.

In an effort to help patients feel more confident and retain their ability to speak and eat as naturally as possible, Dr. Zymantas offers a unique procedure called All-on-4™ that allows his patients to receive specialized implants that are designed to provide immediate function. The rapid and effective procedure involves placing four anchor implants into specific areas of the jaw and then fitting the patient with a temporary set of dentures while the gums heal and the implants integrate. Once the implants have fully osseoentigrated, the temporary dentures are then replaced with permanent new teeth that are strong and reliable.

All residents of Aurora with missing teeth due to gum disease, injury, or decay are encouraged to schedule an appointment with Dr. Zymantas at his Naperville practice and find out if they are eligible to receive All-on-4™ dental implants.

About The Doctor

Dr. Kaz Zymantas is a general dentist offering personalized dental care for patients in Naperville, IL for over 30 years. Dr. Zymantas received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois and has earned a fellowship in the American Academy of General Dentistry, an honor belonging to only three percent of dentists in the world. The Intelligent Community Forum Announces World’s Smart21 Communities of 2015

The Intelligent Community Forum today named the world’s Smart21 Communities of 2015. The United States has five communities, four each from Taiwan and Australia, three from Canada and one each from five other nations and they range in population from 15,000 to more than six million.

New York, New York (PRWEB) October 21, 2014

The Intelligent Community Forum today named the world’s Smart21 Communities of 2015. This select group of communities will now be in contention for the prestigious designation of Intelligent Community of the Year in June 2015.

“We have started the search for Toronto’s successor. More important, our analysts have selected 21 communities that have shown progress in their attempt to make the leap to Intelligent Community status. The Revolutionary Community theme for 2015 is perfect for this group. Not all of them are cities, towns or regions that people immediately think of as ‘tech cities.’ Tech is not all there is to a great community. Some are aspirational but all have launched programs that are innovative, and will do something that most cities, towns and regions have been attempting since the broadband economy emerged: launch a successful and full-scale full revolt against brain drain and the creation of industries that will produce jobs.”

ICF noted that last month the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the International Labor Organization detailed a growing job crisis. A report to G20 Employment Ministers stated that there is a sizeable job gap coupled with deterioration in the quality of jobs. 600 million jobs will be required in the next 15 years just to cope with an expanding population.100 million people are already unemployed.

The Smart21 Communities of 2015 is comprised of five communities from the United States, four communities from Australia, four communities from Taiwan, three communities from Canada, and one community each from Brazil, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya and New Zealand. Perhaps surprisingly, no European or Chinese community appears on this year’s list. Thirteen communities reappeared on the list, with the ICF’s first Kazakhstan city making the Smart21.

NOTE – The Intelligent Community Forum produced a video about the Smart21 for 2014. It can be viewed here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZo6o5TOch8

The announcement of the Smart21 list was made at the kickoff dinner for the 3rd annual Intelligent Community Symposium at Walsh University Institute for the Study of the Intelligent Community in North Canton, Ohio, USA. The Symposium attracts international experts in the fields of education, technology, and business to discuss successful strategies for building prosperous and sustainable communities. The event featured Google’s Education Evangelist Jaimie Casap and Tim Jones, Toronto’s legendary social entrepreneur and CEO of Artscape. Jones coined the phrase “placemaking” and helped foster a global practice in the field.

The Symposium also marked the launch of the Institute’s Leadership Academy, a course designed to educate students, community leaders and ICF movement “champions” on the Intelligent Community Indicators.

Evaluation of Intelligent Community Forum Awards Program nominations is based on the five Intelligent Community Indicators, which provide the conceptual framework for understanding all of the factors that determine a community's competitiveness and point to its success in the broadband economy. In addition, the Awards are guided by this year’s theme, The Revolutionary Community, which focuses on the study of urban and regional planning and how it is impacting the way people live, work and create in their cities and towns. ICF released a white paper discussing the theme, which can be downloaded here.

The Smart21 Communities of 2015 will next provide more detailed data through an extensive questionnaire, which is evaluated by an independent research firm. The seven highest-scoring cities or regions will then be named the Top7 Intelligent Communities of the Year, on January 22 in Taichung City, Taiwan, the 2013 Intelligent Community of the Year. In June of 2015, at an event in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the 2014 Intelligent Community of the Year, one community will be chosen to succeed Toronto as the 2015 Intelligent Community of the Year.

She was the little girl who wanted to play when Conway moved to a new neighborhood on Chicago's South Side at 9. She was the teenager who promised to carry on the tradition of baking Betty Boop birthday cakes after Conway buried her father at 18. She was the woman who snuck a McDonald's Filet-O-Fish sandwich into the hospital room after Conway gave birth to her second child at 25.

So when Jones went missing in early October, Conway, 34, noticed.

"They say you never know what you've got until it's gone," Conway said. "I knew what I had in a friend."

As young women, Conway and Jones visited Memphis, St. Louis and Detroit. They shared a love of Chicago's reggae clubs. They got tattoos together.

"She just wanted to travel and enjoy life," Conway said.

Apart from her dog, Buzz, and cat, Chuck, Jones, 35, had no children. Instead, she was godmother to her friends' children, including Conway's son and daughter.

One of several siblings, Jones was also the "favorite aunt to every last one of her nieces and nephews," Conway said.

Jones moved to northwest Indiana from Detroit between 10 and 12 years ago, Conway said. Her most recent apartment was in Merrillville, but she sold men's clothing at a market in Gary.

Conway said Jones hoped the stand would be a gateway to a store of her own.

"She had big dreams," Conway said.

TEAIRA BATEY

Batey was the proud mother of a 2-year-old son who didn't wait for her longtime boyfriend to propose.

"We were sitting at home having dinner. ... And she said, 'You know what? I want to get married and have more kids one day,'" Marvin Clinton said. "She said, 'Are you interested?'"

The 45-year-old Clinton accepted that proposal two years ago and the two were working on wedding plans when she went missing last January. Clinton said he loved her because she was sweet and beautiful.

"She wanted to get married, raise our son together and just live a prosperous, happy life," he said.

Batey also had struggles. She was bipolar and had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and depression. Clinton said he knew the 28-year-old Batey had been a prostitute "back in the day" but said she hadn't been involved in that for at least three years.

Her mother, Gloria Cullom, described her daughter as trusting and vulnerable. She was born in Chicago and moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, when she was about 4, then moved to Gary in 2004.

Cullom said Batey also had two daughters, ages 8 and 7, who were taken from her by the state and put up for adoption. Cullom thought the state was wrong to take her granddaughters but was pleased Batey had found happiness with Clinton.

Clinton and Cullom said they thought Gary police should have done more to look for Batey. Clinton said he's frustrated that Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson said the only missing person report the city had received was for Jones, because he and Cullom filed one for Batey.

AFRIKKA HARDY

At age 19, Hardy was trying to figure out what she wanted to be.

She wanted to be a nurse. She wanted to be a singer. She wanted to be music engineer. Mainly, she wanted to be an independent adult.

"She had so much potential," said her mother, Lori Townsend. "She could write you a poem in a matter of seconds, and it was original and from the heart. She wrote short stories. ... She could sing. Her mind was a sponge. She absorbed everything."

Townsend said Hardy went through a lot, growing up in poverty and with a father in prison. The family lived in Chicago before moving to Aurora, Colorado, more than five years ago. Hardy decided to leave home in June and move to Gary.

"She was 19. She didn't want to be under mom's wings anymore," she said.

Despite that, the two talked nearly every day, even if it was only to say "I love you," she said.

Townsend said her daughter was trying to get a job and support herself and "fell into a trap" when she apparently turned to sex work.

Police say the discovery of Hardy's body at the Motel 6, where they say she went as a prostitute, led to police arresting Vann and uncovering the other bodies.

Townsend said her daughter died "as a hero in a sense" and said of the prostitution allegations that: "People don't understand people's circumstances. That wasn't who my daughter was."

Hardy's biggest fault might have been that she was too trusting, Townsend said.

"She didn't believe the world is as ugly as it is," she said. "Unfortunately, she succumbed to the hands of ugliness." Reported by Huffington Post 14 hours ago.

“How to Hide a Fat Kid,” inside the comedic mind of Spencer Jame's struggle with childhood obesity.

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) October 22, 2014

Stand-up comic Spencer James, winner of this year’s World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas, Nevada, will present three performances of his one-man show, “How to Hide a Fat Kid” on Thursday Nov. 13th, Friday Nov. 14th, and Saturday Nov. 15th at the Vintage Theatre 1468 Dayton Street in Aurora, Colorado with all shows starting at 7:30 pm. A press preview performance is scheduled for Wednesday Nov. 12th at 7:30 pm, and further information can be obtained by contacting BB Talent at 720.245.6851. Tickets are $10 and available at the door or by calling the reservation line at 720.245.6851.

Spencer James says that his one-man show, “How to Hide a Fat Kid” developed out of a desire to share with audiences the deeper struggle he had with his weight well into his early 20’s. “I’ve talked about my weight problems on stage in my stand-up. But in stand-up, everything is pointed toward a joke. I had a story that was mine, but I knew it also had to be similar to other people’s struggles with their weight as a kid. I wanted to talk more about what the impacts are when you don’t like your own body and you’re simultaneously going through all the insecurity and crazy self-doubt of being a kid and then a teen-ager. Girls, school, parties you’re afraid to go to… the bigger picture of it. The play is really funny but it’s also all true, so there’s much more going on than just telling jokes in a theater.”

James had discussed doing the show with his management team but his stand-up commitments and a needed day job kept him from getting a script together. When playwright and former Denver-based stand-up Steve Stajich (Stych) heard about the project, he was interested in consulting on the play and getting it to a stage. “I had weight issues when I was a kid, and sometimes it just felt overwhelming. You wear goofy oversize clothing, you avoid certain things… you hide. There’s something very human and worthwhile in Spencer wanting to talk about these moments that, because he’s still a young man, are still so close to him. Pursuing stand-up comedy allowed him to put himself in front of people and that’s when we see him, in more ways than one, stop hiding.”

“How to Hide a Fat Kid” begins with James as a kid dealing with insecure moments while waiting for the bus on the first day of school… and continues right through to James’ current award-winning stand-up work. With simple staging and a lot of laughter, James carries the audience through his “hiding” experience and his eventual understanding of what he needed to do to not be held back. “How to Hide a Fat Kid” is an ‘all ages’ evening of theater with some mature themes. For information and reserved seating, please contact BBTalent at 720.245.6851. Tickets are $10 and are only good for one night of the show. There will be a cash bar and snacks available for purchase at the theater.

“How to Hide a Fat Kid” was written by Spencer James with writing and production supervision by Steve Stajich.
