Jake Tapper: No Gun Laws Offered Since Sandy Hook Would Have Prevented Shooting

Jake Tapper: No Gun Laws Offered Since Sandy Hook Would Have Prevented Shooting During a September 30 Segment of CNN's The Lead, host Jake Tapper pointed out that none of the gun control laws offered in the wakes of the attacks on Gabby Giffords, the Aurora theater, or Sandy Hook elementary would have stopped the attacks.

Tapper surmised that the gun control movement lost its fight because, instead of seeking solutions, gun control proponents tried to use the emotion of the moment to pass their gun control bills. Senator Dianne Fienstien's (D-CA) "assault weapons" ban comes to mind.

In the video of the segment, Tapper mentions the Tucson, Aurora, and Sandy Hook attacks, then said:

None of the measures that I heard proposed in any serious way on Capitol Hill actually would have done anything to have stopped those horrific tragedies. It seemed as though Democrat lawmakers just took down what they thought might pass--closing the gun show loophole [for instance]--and tried to pass that even though there wasn't a direct cause and effect [tying it to the attacks].

Tapper then asked his guest, gun control proponent Mark Kelly, whether pushing laws that would have actually stopped such attacks "would have been more successful"?

Kelly gave a convoluted answer beginning with, "I think that depends on how much detail you look into." He continued to talk about what has grown from he and Gabby Giffords' push for expanded background checks to what is now a push for expanded background checks, new regulations for gun shows, and new rules for online gun sales. Earlier in the segment Kelly also talked up his push for more firearm trafficking laws as well.

CO Governor Communicated with Out-of-State Anti-2nd Amendment Groups

$

CO Governor Communicated with Out-of-State Anti-2nd Amendment Groups Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper's (D) own words and actions suggest that he is a liberal who did the bidding of out-of-state anti-Second Amendment groups during the gun control push that turned Colorado upside down in March 2013.

Hickenlooper, who took heat for ignoring the CO sheriffs' opposition to the gun control measures being discussed, has since admitted that he talked to Michael Bloomberg three times during the same period in which sheriffs were warning that the new gun measures would be "unenforceable."

Since that time, Coloradans recalled two state senators who helped Hickenlooper ramrod the gun control legislation through--state Senators Angela Giron (D-Pueblo) and John Morse (D-Colo. Springs)--and watched as Evie Hudak (D-Westminster), another state senator, resigned under pressure of recall.

Now the National Journal reports that Hickenlooper has lost his mojo, too. His "political charms" have actually "[turned] into liabilities."

Hickenlooper went from being "skeptical" that new gun regulations could stop criminals from being criminals following the 2012 Aurora theater attack to agreeing to the passage of universal background checks after Sandy Hook. He took this position even though universal background checks would not have prevented the Sandy Hook attack and did not stop the 2013 Arapahoe High School attack.

He also signed on to a "high capacity" magazines ban because there was "a feeling in urban areas that high capacity magazines were associated with Aurora."

Throughout the 2013 legislative session in which these gun control measures were discussed--and opposed by the vast majority of Colorado sheriffs--Hickenlooper ignored the sheriffs but spoke with Bloomberg three times.

Real Clear Politics now shows Hickenlooper trailing Republican challenger Bob Beauprez in the coming gubernatorial election.

K-Rise Systems announced today that version 4.7 of its proprietary development platform is now available to ERP communities worldwide.

Aurora, IL (PRWEB) October 07, 2014

K-Rise Systems, a product leader to the JD Edwards, SAP, E-Business Suite, and Microsoft Dynamics AX communities, announced today that EASYProcess version 4.7, its proprietary enterprise development platform, is now available as the latest upgrade to the technology platform.

With the recent upgrade from EASYProcess 4.6 to 4.7, K-Rise Systems has released a variety of new developer features, process enhancements, and other additions to its platform designed to elevate the user interface and provide a robust foundation for applications to advance passed their original purposes. Among the elements featured in EASYProcess version 4.7 include:·     3-Tier Architecture – EASYProcess version 4.7 utilizes genuine 3-tier architecture to allow for the development of sophisticated, pre-built and custom applications. This type of architecture offers improved performance of existing applications and lightweight HTML controls.

·     Application Logs – Application logs have been completely redesigned to allow for easier debugging. The new Application Log screen allows a developer to navigate to a central location to view logs regarding all aspects of the application, including web part logs, process logs, workflow logs, value transformation logs, as well as EASYProcess client logs. Developers can easily find a specific log and then view all relating logs with a few simple clicks. Log levels are now instantly modified upon adjusting the setting, and there is no longer the need to restart the website or reboot for the change to take effect.

·     Tabbed Display – Designed with developers in mind, the tabbed display feature offers additional easy-of-use functionality to the intuitive interface found within EASYProcess. Tabbed interfaces within EASYProcess version 4.7 are now faster than ever. Changing between tabs no longer causes a page to refresh, enabling smooth transitions for the user when navigating. Further, tabbed sections now have additional built-in controls, such as default tab upon page load, as well as the ability to hide or unhide tabs.

·     New Data Source Canvas Design/Filter Process Design –The new data source canvas in EASYProcess version 4.7 now includes a familiar, intuitive design. Data sources open within a web-part-like canvas, which keeps the filters viewable at all times and the data source open as well. Filters are now placed within sections of the data source canvas using AND and OR blocks to group the filters, along with AND and OR logic separators to combine filters together. Along with the new data source canvas, EASYProcess version 4.7 now has the option to use a single process as a filter process. The new filter process allows developers to use any node of the filter process as a source for any data source filter.

·     New Process Data Source - EASYProcess version 4.7 and its new process data source will now drop from the toolbox and into a WebPart. When designing within a new tab, the process data source will open within a process canvas and any output node of the service can become a data source for the field or list as it is no longer necessary to include an output service.

The new installments of EASYProcess version 4.7 come at a time when customers were envisioning new, complex applications, which included elevated approval hierarchies and dynamic operational processes, as innovative technological solutions for their organizations. EASYProcess version 4.7 allows customers to expand their current EASYProcess implementation and develop advanced business applications to serve every supply chain, human resource, ecommerce, and procurement need.

To demonstrate the recent features released within version 4.7, K-Rise Systems will host a 3-part webinar series for current EASYProcess developers and those interested in utilizing this development platform for future business needs. The series will provide an in-depth understanding of EASYProcess version 4.7 and will serve as a forum for the EASYProcess development community to gain insight into the latest builds and upgrades. Click here for more information and to register for any of the webinars within the series.

Matthew Minchuk, Application Developer at K-Rise Systems, commented on the latest version of the EASYProcess development platform:

“The transition from 4.6 to 4.7 has been our biggest upgrade yet. Not only has it made it easier for developers to create anything with EASYProcess, but the behind-the-scene performance of the applications built with EASYProcess has increased dramatically due to EASYProcess utilizing 3-tier technology and faster HTML controls.“

EASYProcess version 4.7 will continue to integrate seamlessly with both new and existing applications within Microsoft SharePoint. SharePoint integration has always been a major area of success for K-Rise Systems, and the growing interest in this Microsoft collaboration platform indicated that EASYProcess integration with SharePoint, especially the newly released process enhancements, should be offered to each of the ERP communities, including JD Edwards and SAP. Users of SharePoint will only need to include EASYProcess as a “Feature” of SharePoint, and will then have the ability to include ERP-specific data, as well as enterprise-class business applications, powered by EASYProcess, directly within SharePoint.

Colorado Institute for Drug, Device and Diagnostic Development Awards Funding & Management Assistance to Sapphire Technology

The Colorado Institute for Drug, Device and Diagnostic Development (CID4) has selected Denver-based Sapphire Technology, LLC, to receive funding and management assistance.

Aurora, Colorado (PRWEB) October 07, 2014

The Colorado Institute for Drug, Device and Diagnostic Development (CID4), is awarding $200,000 to Denver-based Sapphire Technology, LLC, for funding and management assistance in developing its proprietary dental instruments. The announcement is made by Kevin M. Smith, CID4 President & CEO, who says, “Sapphire Technology is a development-stage dental device company, advancing its proprietary sapphire-tipped instruments for use in dental procedures involving photo-cured resin composite filling and restoration materials.”

As part of CID4’s management support, Jonathan Thorne, a member of the CID4 Board for the past two years, will join Sapphire Technology’s Founder Alan Wong, DDS, and CEO H. Steven Rosen on the Company’s Board of Managers.

“We are extremely excited about our investment and involvement in Sapphire Technology,” Smith said. “Not only will Sapphire Technology’s proprietary devices address a recognized problem in the dental instrument market as the movement toward composite filling and restoration materials continues to grow, but Sapphire Technology’s use of Colorado-based contract manufacturers should contribute significantly to the advancement of the State’s life science industry.”

Unlike current dental filling instruments, which typically utilize metal for their tips, Sapphire Technology’s SGS® instrument line will employ highly polished and optically clear sapphire tips instead. The use of sapphire is intended to significantly reduce composite pullback as experienced with current metal instruments, which in turn is expected to provide a reduction of voids in the composite material and improve the bond between the filling material and the patient’s natural tooth. Voids and poor bonds in dental fillings can trap bacteria, provide opportunity for further tooth decay, and provide micro-leakage pathways for post-filling hot and cold sensitivity issues.

“We are very pleased that such a high quality investor as CID4 has shown confidence in our future prospects. The money and resources provided by CID4 will enable us to move into commercial distribution with our initial line of the SGS® dental instruments,” Dr. Wong said.

Further, Sapphire Technology’s CEO Rosen said: “Beyond CID4’s financial resources, we are already benefitting from the guidance provided by Jonathan Thorne. His years of entrepreneurial experience developing healthcare devices will greatly enhance our ability to grow Sapphire into a significant presence in the Colorado Med Tech sector.”

An exciting, eventful day is set for the metropolitan D.C. area with the 1st Annual Commercial Unmanned Aircraft Systems Symposium and Technical Workshop. On behalf of The American Helicopter Society-International, the University of Maryland and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, we’re proud to host and deliver an innovative event.

In a single day you’ll hear dialogue from the Federal Aviation Administration on the latest regulations governing commercial unmanned aircraft systems, and explore the work underway by the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership FAA Test Sites. Google will share their vision and demonstrate their commercial drone precision delivery capability whilst NASA presents their airspace traffic management solution for Commercial UAS. In addition, University of Maryland students will unveil their innovative drone prototype and Aurora Flight Sciences will demonstrate a groundbreaking sense and avoid technology for small drones. The panel discussion being chaired by CEO AUVSI should stimulate lively discussion on the balance of regulation versus growth in the commercial UAS markets.

It has the makings of a great event for only $150 registration fee.
