Nurses with DNP Degrees in High Demand 2015 and Beyond

In response to the AACN’s call for more advance practice nurses to hold doctorate level degrees, American Sentinel University has opened up a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Fall 2014 Cohort with specialty tracks in executive and educational leadership to prepare today’s modern nurses with leadership skills in administration and academic settings. Learn more about American Sentinel University’s DNP Programs at http://www.americansentinel.edu/online-doctoral-degree-programs.

Aurora, CO (PRWEB) July 08, 2014

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) has recently called for more advance practice nurses to hold doctorate level degrees, doubling the number of nurses with doctorates by 2015, and American Sentinel University has responded by opening up a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Fall 2014 Cohort.

American Sentinel’s ACEN-accredited DNP programs offer specialty tracks in executive and educational leadership to prepare today’s modern nurses with leadership skills in administration and academic settings.

“Nurses have devoted their careers to making a difference in the lives of their patients and our online DNP programs let them build on their knowledge and expertise to strengthen their nursing practice, improve patient outcomes, elevate the level of patient care, lead industry change and position themselves for advancement in their field of specialty,” says Cheryl Wagner, Ph.D., MSN/MBA, RN, associate dean of graduate nursing programs at American Sentinel University.

American Sentinel’s DNP fall cohort will begin on Oct. 20, 2014. Class size is limited to just 25 students and the required class residency takes place Oct. 25 – Nov.1, 2014 in Aurora, Colo. The deadline to apply for the fall cohort is August 25.

“Education makes a difference in the ability of nurses to practice and nurses with doctoral degrees will be in high demand in the coming years,” says Dr. Wagner. “Our DNP programs are designed for nurse leaders seeking practice-focused degrees. Since the launch of our first DNP program in 2010, we have empowered nurses to gain the credibility, management skills and industry knowledge they need to move up the career ladder and play an important role in the healthcare transformation.”

Nurse Executives with Practical Leadership Skills
American Sentinel’s two-year DNP Executive Leadership program enables Master's-prepared nurses to practice within a complex, highly computerized health system to gain a doctoral degree in nursing leadership.

“The DNP Executive Leadership program offers nurse executives doctorates in practice-based fields as an alternative to Ph.D.s, both within and outside of healthcare,” says Dr. Wagner. “Busy nurse executives find our program fulfilling and enjoyable. It’s perfect for executive nurses who want to specialize in practical leadership skills and demonstrates their value to their organizations and the healthcare marketplace.”

The program features a flexible online format, eight-week-long courses, a week break between courses, and just two 7-day residencies.

Meeting Demands for More Deans and Directors of Nursing
The DNP Educational Leadership program was designed to be practice-based and leadership-focused preparing faculty, program directors and deans to lead nursing education programs. Traditional doctorial programs are often research-based or general education focused. American Sentinel’s DNP program provides nurse education leaders a unique set of skills intended for the classroom and for advancing in the educational field.

American Sentinel’s doctorate in nursing education develops the six key competencies that vary greatly from those taught in traditional Ph.D. or Ed.D. programs and are the most needed by today’s nursing education leaders: leadership, finance and fund development, new models of curriculum development and delivery, strategic planning, education policy, education research and accreditation training.

“The roles of nursing deans and education directors have expanded significantly over the last several years and our DNP gives leaders the tools they need in order to be effective in transforming nursing education,” says Dr. Wagner. “The most successful way to create strong educational leadership is to develop nurses to become better educators by mentoring them at a high level.”

Attend DNP Online Open House
American Sentinel will hold a DNP Online Open House on Tues., July 8 at 1 p.m. EST. Healthcare professionals are invited to join Natalie Nixon, VP of Admissions at American Sentinel University and Dr. Cheryl Wagner to answer questions about the DNP programs. Reserve your seat today at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7831478636198591746.

The REALTORS® Commercial Alliance of the Miami Association of Realtors (RCA MIAMI) and Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust recently presented “What’s New in Coral Gables,” an event highlighting the recent and future transformation of the City of Coral Gables. A panel of experts addressed improvements, new developments, and the current state of the office and retail sectors in the Coral Gables commercial real estate market.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) July 08, 2014

The REALTORS® Commercial Alliance of the Miami Association of Realtors(RCA MIAMI) and Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust recently presented “What’s New in Coral Gables,” an event highlighting the recent and future transformation of the City of Coral Gables. A panel of experts addressed improvements, new developments, and the current state of the office and retail sectors in the Coral Gables commercial real estate market.

Speakers included Coral Gables Commissioner Frank Quesada, Glenn H Pratt of Bellin & Pratt Architects, LLC; Scott Sime of Sime Realty and RCA MIAMI President-Elect Barbara Tria of Kerdyk Real Estate.

Tria emphasized Coral Gables’ reputation as a top retail market in South Florida that continues to thrive and expand. “Coral Gables has its roots as a retail destination,” said Tria. “Today’s changing marketplace has resulted in a new mix of dynamic restaurants and retailers in our trade area that creates a desirable retail shopping experience, building on the legacy of the past.”

The Gables already offers the community diverse retail experiences, including:· Downtown urban streetscape of the Central Business District with an eclectic mix of dynamic retailers, restaurants, arts and culture
· Village at Merrick Park, a 700,000-square foot regional mall anchored by Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus

In addition, the Coral Gables Trolley, a free air conditioned trolley system, provides consumers easy access to all the City Beautiful has to offer.

“From the magnificent urban projects to the minimal residential detail, the Board of Architects has continued an established tradition of aesthetic review as conceived by the founders of the City of Coral Gables,” said Pratt. “It is a pleasure to share some history and insight with this Board that so diligently tries to preserve that character we know as ‘The City Beautiful’.”

There is new significant retail development on the horizon for Coral Gables. Improvements to Miracle Mile and the 100 block of Giralda Avenue coupled with strong sales and leasing activity are expected to be future drivers of growth.

"The 'What's New in Coral Gables’ event was a great opportunity to share some of the exciting projects that are being proposed for the City,” said Quesada. "The city continues to be a prime location for development and investment. We have a stable economy, convenient access to global markets, a high quality of life, unique architecture—and we are surrounded by natural beauty.”

New projects, all of which have either announced retail components or are expected to incorporate them, include:

· The redevelopment of the Publix site on LeJeune Road by Stiles
· Agave Holding’s plans for a mixed use development on the seven acres formerly known as Old Spanish Village
· The planned RFP for the re-development of the City-owned parking garages on Andalusia Avenue
· The Shoma Homes/CMC Group development on Aurora Avenue @ Bird Road
· The planned Gables Station project planned by Berkowitz Development

Tria emphasized the retail market in Coral Gables remains strong. “With a vacancy factor running at about 4 percent and the recent increase in residential development, including more than 1,000 luxury rental units being delivered to the trade area from 2013 to 2014 alone, demand for locations from national tenants is strong, making it difficult to accommodate the square foot requirements of these significant national retailers.”

The office sector is also performing robustly in Coral Gables. “The Coral Gables office market continues to strengthen with vacancy rates decreasing and rental rates on the rise, said Sime. “The current political leadership in Coral Gables has increased the public amenities and infrastructure while simultaneously increasing the City's reserve account; truly a remarkable accomplishment.”

Other topics that were discussed by the speakers included: an extended bike path, major improvements in streetscaping, transfer development right and building incentives.

Telescopic Gunsight Manufacturing in the US Industry Market Research Report Now Available from IBISWorld

The de-escalation of combat operations, coupled with attempts at reducing government spending, lowered government spending on industry products, causing demand for military-grade scopes to fall. For these reasons, industry research firm IBISWorld has added a report on the Telescopic Gunsight Manufacturing industry to its growing industry report collection.

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 10, 2014

Over the past five years, the Telescopic Gunsight Manufacturing industry locked in strong growth as demand for industry products increased. Industry operators design and produce telescopic sights and related components for firearms. Following the election of President Obama and recent mass shootings in the United States, such as the Aurora, CO and Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings, consumer fears over more stringent nationwide gun regulations rose. Consequently, consumers purchased firearms in record numbers, creating a surge in demand for complementary goods such as telescopic gunsights. Prior to the five-year period, the industry benefited from an increase in demand for military-grade scopes as the United States fought in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Therefore, in the five years to 2014, industry revenue is expected to increase an annualized rate.

In recent years, however, declining military spending has tempered industry growth. In 2011, the United States withdrew from Iraq and wound down combat operations in Afghanistan. The de-escalation of combat operations, coupled with attempts at reducing government spending, lowered government spending on industry products, causing demand for military-grade scopes to fall. Moreover, as the chances of more stringent gun regulations being implemented by 2014 grew increasingly minimal, consumers reduced gun and related equipment (i.e. scopes) purchases. As a result, industry revenue is expected to fall in 2014. The average industry profit margin also declined over the past five years due to increasing domestic and foreign competition, as well as greater public sector emphasis on price.

The Telescopic Gunsight Manufacturing industry has a moderate level of market share concentration. Over the five years to 2019, industry revenue growth is forecast to decline, climbing at an annualized rate. Less federal defense funding will continue reducing military demand for industry products. However, as local and state government budgets are reformulated, funding for law enforcement equipment, such as scopes, is anticipated to recover. Moreover, as it becomes more apparent that stringent national gun regulations are unlikely to pass, firearm sales are anticipated to normalize. Gun sales volumes will decline, tempering demand for accessories such as gun scopes. Nonetheless, after years of skyrocketing gun sales, the volume of firearms held by consumer is expected to remain large. As a result, there will still be significant demand for gun add-ons, such as scopes.
